Learning Instant Abilities with the Soul Shield
In Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin (FF Origin), using the Soul Shield to block incoming attacks allows you to recover MP and acquire Instant Abilities which are essentially the enemy’s move that you can use yourself. Instant Abilities do not expend MP when performed, allowing you to save your magic pool for more difficult encounters during missions.
Important Mechanics for Instant Abilities
Instant Ability Names are Colored Purple.
When fighting enemies, try to observe the abilities they use that are colored purple. This indicates that the move can be “stolen” and used as an Instant Ability by blocking it with the Soul Shield. It is also important to observe the timing of different learnable abilities which varies from enemy to enemy.
Instant Abilities have a Limited Number of Uses.
While Instant Abilities do not cost MP to use, they can only be performed a limited number of times. Because of this, try to save useful Instant Abilities, especially ones that certain foes are weak against, for later instead of throwing them out immediately after acquiring them.
