Use Materials to Upgrade Gear
Enhancing equipment requires materials which can be obtained from missions as rewards or through dismantling weapons and armor you do not need. The type of material and the amount you need changes as you keep refining pieces of equipment which means that further upgrades become more demanding later on.
Farming Materials
As mentioned earlier, you can get upgrade materials either as rewards from clearing missions and through disassembling gear. For the latter method, simply open the Smithy sub menu from the world map screen and select Dismantle. You will then be able to salvage the materials from unwanted pieces of equipment which you can then use to refine weapons and armor you actually use.
Farming Equipment
Various equipment can be found throughout the game. As with materials, weapons and armor are rewarded for completing missions. You can also loot treasure chests to find equipment. Lastly, enemies, including bosses and mini bosses, will also regularly drop gear when defeated, with strong foes naturally yielding high level equipment that you can dismantle for rare materials.
