Battle and Strategy Guide

Lure enemies on the left flank

Triangle Strategy - Escape from Whiteholm Castle Strategy Gain Height on the Left Flank

Move your frontline units to the left side. Make sure to cover or place your units on the left corner as well to gain a height advantage, especially for Serenoa and Hughette.

Triangle Strategy - Escape from Whiteholm Castle Strategy Lure Enemies

Place Erador in the front and in the range of enemies. They will gang up on him but he can withstand waves of attacks. Make use of his Provoke ability

Just make sure Geela and Benedict are in range for healing and Bulwark defense buffs. Don’t forget other melee range units like Roland and Anna to cover for him. Roland can hit two targets adjacent to each other while Anna can attack twice.

Triangle Strategy - Escape from Whiteholm Castle Strategy Set Front Ice Wall

Command Corentin to set an Ice Wall behind the block of your Vanguard units. This is to limit the placement options of the enemy near your range and support units. Set Frederica and Geela behind the wall.

Triangle Strategy - Escape from Whiteholm Castle Strategy Use Physical Attacks

Focus on eliminating the Aesfroti Swordsmen and Aesfroti Archers with Physical attacks and/or Fire magic. Then, finish off the Aesfroti Shieldbearer with Physical attacks such as Serenoa’s Hawk Dive and/or Ice magic.

Don’t open the gates until the pursuing parties from the back are gone. There will be two waves of coming from the rear.

Cover the pursuing party from the rear

Triangle Strategy - Escape from Whiteholm Castle Strategy Cover Rear Flank

After a few turns, a group of Aesfroti Swordsmen will emerge from the back. While you are picking-off enemies in the front, gradually place Anna and Hughette in the rear corners to assist Maxwell. Also, move range and support units away from the enemy range.

Triangle Strategy - Escape from Whiteholm Castle Strategy Set Rear Ice Wall

In the same manner, set an Ice wall beside Maxwell to limit enemy movement.

Triangle Strategy - Escape from Whiteholm Castle Strategy Inflict Status Effects

Make use of Hughette’s Blinding Arrow to blind enemies. This will help minimize damage to Maxwell as they get closer to him.

Triangle Strategy - Escape from Whiteholm Castle Strategy Use Fire Attacks

Use Frederica’s Scorch to deal fire damage to the Swordsmen. Damage will be higher with Benedict’s buff called Raging Beast.

Triangle Strategy - Escape from Whiteholm Castle Strategy Cast Buffs

Also, this will make it convenient for Maxwell to pick them off one by one. Maximize his damage through Benedict’s offensive and defensive buffs.

Triangle Strategy - Escape from Whiteholm Castle Strategy Second Rear Party

As mentioned earlier, there will be a second wave coming out. Don’t return to the gate and open it until they are defeated. Continuously use status effects to slow them down.

Open the gate and capture the draw bridge

Triangle Strategy - Escape from Whiteholm Castle Strategy Open the gate

Once all enemies are cleared both from the front and rear, make your way near the gate. Loot all drop items along the way and don’t open gate until all your units are close to each other and near the entry.

Triangle Strategy - Escape from Whiteholm Castle Strategy Set Erador in front

Repeat the same tactic and place Erador in the front to lure enemies such as Aesfroti Swordsmen and Shieldbearers. Once they are close, use Provoke.

Triangle Strategy - Escape from Whiteholm Castle Strategy Set Bridge Ice Wall

Place Ice Walls again to cover your range and support units. Again, make the wall adjacent to Erador. Keep then enemies close to each other. You can utilize Roland’s Pushback to drive them back or Hughette’s Shadowstiching arrow to immobilize them.

Triangle Strategy - Escape from Whiteholm Castle Strategy Use Ice Attacks

Apart from Ice Walls, Corentin can use AoE Ice magic. Ice magic is effective against Shieldbearers and it will deplete their HP faster.

Triangle Strategy - Escape from Whiteholm Castle Battle Result

Once all remaining units are defeated, the battle is cleared. Then, watch a cutscene.
