Arena of Valor Valiant Online Community Tournament - Weekly Takeaways (Week 4)

We are back with Samurai Gamers' Weekly Takeaways for Week 4 of Kaisaya's AOV Valiant Online Community Tournament. As the semifinals are taking shape, we look back at the previous week's games to see where they will fall in the standings.

Week 4 has been a roller coaster ride for most teams still in the competition, as some managed to stage an upset while others dominated without much difficulty. Let’s look at the top takeaways for this week and determine the top teams who are going to the playoffs of Kaisaya’s Valiant Online Tournament:

Lilliana Debuts in the Valiant Server

Liliana, The Elegant, officially made her way to the Valiant server last week. A high-tier hero in other servers, Liliana is a strong mage hero that has a ton of utility and damage abilities. She was picked twice in nine games, and she won them twice. Liliana fits well in the current meta of fast, high damage mages who can engage and disengage easily in team fights.

It’s exciting to see how she will fare in next week’s competition, since we are starting to see strong players practicing this hero in ranked games. One thing is for certain, she will become a staple mage pick in the next few weeks.

The Pick and the Banned (Week 4)

There were only nine games for Week 4, which means that the sample size is small. As such, the picks and bans were similar to the previous weeks. The appearance of Liliana may also take a drastic toll on the picks and bans in week five. Let us look at the notable heroes with the highest pick and ban percentage!

HERO PICK % (9 Games) WIN % (9 Games) NOTES

Maloch
9 55.56% Maloch remains at the top as the most picked hero in this tournament. Despite the slight nerf to his W which lessens his survivability, the numbers on his Q was buffed, giving him more offensive options.

Aside from his hybrid nature, he also has a very strong ultimate that can make or break large team fights. We can expect more of this demon hero in the following weeks to come, that’s how versatile he is.

Alice 8 50% Alice comes in second as the most picked hero. She is a very strong support hero that has a lot of utility and protective abilities up in her sleeve.

The competing teams in this tournament are highly skilled, which makes Alice a great pick to protect carries from dying and also start team fights.

Zephys 8 25% Zephys is tied along with Alice as second-most picked hero. The only problem he has right now is his low win rate. He was picked eight times, but only won two games.

It’s still unclear on whether this trend will continue, but expect more players to either pick him or ban him in the next few games.

Here are Week 4’s three most banned heroes:

HERO WIN% WHEN PICKED # OF TIMES BANNED (9 Games) NOTES
Arena of ValorSuperman 7 Superman is yet again the most banned hero in the tournament. The man of Steel has been consistent when it comes to not seeing any play in the tournament, as he has been a constant ban in the previous weeks.

It’s no wonder why he is feared in the meta, he has a ton of mobility and a high damage output that can quickly slash through any enemy heroes in his way.

Will we see him get the top spot again next week? Most likely. Despite his small nerf in the recent patch, he still remains as one of the best Dark Slayer heroes in Arena of Valor.

Xeniel 80% 5 Xeniel is second on the list. This hero is considered as the poster boy of master/conqueror tier in the MSP region. Having one of the best win rates and pick percentage, Xeniel sure is a game changer in competitive play.

His kit allows him to become a beefy frontliner, while his global ultimate is a lifesaver in crucial team fights. He is also a priority pick among top teams, and they even sometimes center their lineup on Xeniel. It’s a no-brainer as to why he is a priority ban.

Lindis 100% 2 Lindis managed to sneak in last in the list of most banned heroes. This auto attack goddess has a very strong presence in the mid-late game after getting her core items.

A good tanky team composition with Lindis can already spell defeat in the side of the enemy. She’s strong that she can be the only damage dealer in a team and still be effective in the late game.

With Liliana on the rise, we might expect her to drop a few places below the chart. However, no one can discount how Liliana is a strong pick in every situation.

12 Teams Remain

The tournament started out with 64 teams looking to find the opportunity to win it all in the tournament. As the weeks passed by, a lot of teams unfortunately didn’t make it. Now, only 12 teams remain in the tournament. These teams are:

BrenEsports Kimochiii
EnemyE-Sports Gods Myth Esports
ESF.MAYHEM Nova S
EurasiaSuperfly PowerPuffBoys – Nova PH
EVO PowerRangers
Forgiven United (Squammy Version) Team Marksman

Some of you may be familiar with some names, as many are top guilds in the MSP region. Some teams, however, are just new and may be a surprise to many. We can’t wait to see these top teams battle it out with the underdogs to determine who gets to be the first season winner of this tournament.

Match of the Week: Kimochiii vs. Hooligans

The match of Week 4 belongs to none other than Kimochiii when they dominated a game against Hooligans last week. It was a lopsided affair as Kimochiii showed Hooligans that they are a force to reckoned with in this tournament. With the win, Kimochiii advances to the next round of the loser’s bracket and is a few steps away to the finals.

This game only shows that being in the winner’s bracket doesn’t give you an advantage, as teams from the loser’s bracket may have the same winning attitude and dedication when it comes to winning.
