How to Beat Cerberus Boss Guide for Hades 2
This page contains a strategy guide on how to beat Cerberus in Hades 2. Below are tactics to avoid Cerberus’ attacks and information about the boss’ moveset.
Cerberus Boss Strategy
Main Strategy
Cerberus is a powerful enemy that boasts a wide range of attacks. Since this boss has a variety of melee attacks, it is difficult and risky to engage in close-range battles. Although it may take some time, it is more efficient to use special attacks to inflict damage while keeping a safe distance from the boss.
In preparation for this battle, make sure to upgrade your special attacks and Omega Cast, as they will play a crucial part in winning this boss fight.
Cerberus Boss Attacks Strategy and Counters
Counterattack at the end of Cerberus’ attacks.
To effectively damage Cerberus, wait until the boss completes its attack patterns before approaching and attacking. The boss’s attacks, such as Flame Bullet, Flame Miasma, and Flame Wall, provide excellent opportunities for counterattacks.
Otherwise, try to maneuver around the boss and attack it from behind.
Use Special Attacks.
Cerberus possesses a powerful set of melee attacks, making it hard to approach in melee combat. However, some of the boss’ attacks have delays or gaps before it can perform another attack. Take advantage of these delays and use special attacks after the boss’ attack has ended.
We recommend using melee attacks for long delays and special attacks for short delays, as this will allow you to inflict damage safely.
Omega Cast is also effective against Cerberus.
Using Omega Cast may leave you open, but it is capable of dealing massive damage to Cerberus. Charge your Omega Cast while moving to avoid getting hit while casting.
Cerberus Moveset and Attack Patterns
Note that Scylla and the Sirens’ moveset and attack patterns do not have names. The names given below are based on the actions and appearance of the attacks.
Flame Bomb
A wide-range attack that advances slowly and detonates upon reaching a specific distance. Cerberus is capable of executing this attack consecutively three times. Utilize long-range attacks while the Flame Bomb is in effect, as long as you remain outside its blast radius.
Moreover, positioning yourself behind Cerberus to deal damage following this attack is also an effective way to inflict damage on the boss.
Suction
An attack that draws you toward Cerberus. It inflicts no damage but can result in a slam if it pulls you in successfully. To avoid being pulled, quickly move out of its range.
Ground Slam
Cerberus slams the ground with its massive arms, creating flames that resemble shockwaves. These flames appear slightly delayed, allowing a brief window of time to evade the attack.
Magic Circles
Three massive magic circles appear on the ground near Cerberus. After a short delay, a wolf head will rise from the magic circles, causing damage to you if you remain inside the circle.
Stay out of the circles and use long-range attacks while this attack is active.
Minion Summoning
Cerberus summons minions that can use Suction. We highly recommend eliminating the minions first using Omega Cast and special attacks.
Flame Sweep
Cerberus creates a wave of flames by sweeping its massive arms. Simply dodge sideways to avoid getting hit by this attack.
Flame Miasma
Cerberus releases a miasma and an aerial bombardment. Being caught in the miasma will slow you down, increasing your vulnerability to the aerial attack.
Cerberus takes a deep breath before launching this attack, so be alert for this cue and distance yourself quickly.
Spirit Summoning
When Cerberus’ HP is reduced to 50%, it will go underground, and several armored spirits will appear. These spirits are limited to melee attacks, so it’s advisable to use your Cast ability to restrict their movement and deal damage at the same time.
After the armored spirits are defeated, Cerberus will resurface to commence the second phase of the boss battle.
Multiple Magic Circles
When multiple magic circles appear on the ground, it is an indication that Cerberus is going to use this attack. Cerberus will move to the last magic circle that appeared.
Because of that, you can place an Omega Cast on the last circle to inflict damage on the boss.
Flame Wall
Cerberus creates a wall of flames, forcing you to fight him in close-range combat. Prepare to dodge incoming attacks and counterattack when Cerberus is open.
Flame Bullets
Cerberus shoots flame bullets, aiming in your direction. You can avoid this attack by moving in circles, and if you have the Merit that allows you to attack while moving, you will be able to deal damage as well.
Fire Breath
Cerberus breathes fire from his mouth, dealing massive damage when it hits. This is a short-range attack and can be easily avoided by moving far away from Cerberus.
Magic Circles (Phase 2)
In the second half of the boss fight, Cerberus will once again mark the area with magic circles. However, this time more magic circles will appear, making it more difficult to avoid.
While this attack is active, it is better if you focus on evading the magic circles and wait for the attack to end.
Ground Slam (Phase 2)
Cerberus will slam the ground using both massive arms, creating shockwaves.
The range of the shockwaves is larger compared to the Ground Slam used during the early phase of the boss fight. Move away from Cerberus to avoid the shockwaves.
Moving Ground Slam
This attack allows Cerberus to move and pursue you while slamming the ground. Simply run away to avoid getting hit by this attack.
