Hecate Boss Strategy

Main Strategy

Hades 2 - Hecate Boss Guide

Hecate is the first boss that you will encounter in the game. This boss fight will put your understanding of basic combat mechanics to the test.

The main strategy for this boss fight is to take advantage of the opening after Hecate uses the Crossed Flames attack (expanding magic circle) or the Umbral Flames (shockwave-like attack).

Hecate will be left open once she finishes launching these attacks, which gives you an opportunity to deal damage.

Hecate Boss Attacks Strategy and Counters

At the end of Umbral Flames

Hades 2 - Hecate Boss Guide Umbral Flames

Umbral Flames is one of Hecate’s most-used attack during the entire boss fight. This attack leaves Hecate defenseless for a moment once the attack is over, giving you an opportunity to deal damage. But remember that she usually launches the Umbral Flames twice in a row.

At the end of Crossed Flames

Hecate’s Crossed Flames attack is easy to dodge, and it leaves her vulnerable once the flames and magic circle are gone. However, Hecate only uses this attack frequently, so seize the opportunity to attack when she uses the Crossed Flames.

When Hecate’s real body is found during her Triple Divide.

Hades 2 - Hecate Boss Guide Triple Divide (Second Phase)

During the Triple Divide, Hecate is in a stationary state and does not move from her location. Therefore, look for Hecate’s real body as soon as possible and deal as much damage as you can.

Note that the real body is the one that displays damage notations, and it is recommended to use long-range special attacks to find Hecate’s real body quickly.

Hecate Moveset and Attack Patterns

Crossed Flames

Hecate will release flames and a magic circle around her. You can avoid this attack by simply moving away from the flames and the magic circle.

Once Hecate has completely absorbed the magic circle, it is the perfect opportunity to engage and launch a counterattack.

Triple Divide

Hades 2 - Hecate Boss Guide Triple Divide

Triple Divide is an attack that Hecate uses during the early phase of the boss fight. This attack allows Hecate to produce clones that will attack you from different angles. You can avoid getting hit by keeping a safe distance from the clones.

The strategy for this attack is to locate Hecate’s real body as quickly as possible to avoid getting damaged. The damage notation does not appear when you hit a clone; therefore, look for the one that displays damage notations when struck.

Umbral Flames

Hecate shoots out shockwaves in a projectile direction. There is an opening after Hecate launches this attack, which gives you a great opportunity to launch a counterattack and deal damage.

Note that Hecate will launch shockwaves twice in a row, so watch out for another Umbral Flames attack before moving towards her.

Sisters of the Dead

Hades 2 - Hecate Boss Guide Sisters of the Dead

The Sisters of the Dead is an attack performed by Hecate at the end of the boss fight’s first phase. Hecate will summon Witches and repeatedly cast magic circles directed at your previous location. You can avoid the magic circles by continuously moving or dodging.

Defeat all the Witches summoned by Hecate to bring an end to the barrage of magic circles. Additionally, Hecate is invulnerable during this attack, so shift your focus to the Witches instead to move on to the second phase of the boss fight.

Triple Divide (Second Phase)

During the second phase of the boss fight, Hecate will once again produce clones, but this time the clones will fire magick bullets rapidly. Homing magick bullets can be easily avoided by dodging sideways.

Just like the Triple Divide in the first phase, all you have to do is look for Hecate’s real body and deal as much damage as you can.

Hex

Hex is an attack performed by Hecate at the end of the boss fight’s second phase. This attack resembles the Sister of the Dead; however, this time you will be turned into a sheep, hence the Hex.

When in a hexed or sheep state, just focus on dodging the incoming attacks from Hecate and her Witches.

Once the Hex is dispelled, unleash magick spells to get rid of the Witches quickly. Doing so will end this attack and start the third phase of the boss fight.

Umbral Flames (Third Phase)

During the third phase, Hecate will unleash a barrage of Umbral Flames. Keep an eye out for the Umbral Flames and wait for the opportunity to counterattack once it is over.

Hecate’s back is also vulnerable during this attack, so try to maneuver around to deal some damage.

Triple Divide (Third Phase)

Hades 2 - Hecate Boss Guide Triple Divide (Third Phase)

This attack is another enhanced version of the Triple Divide. During the third phase, the clones that Hecate produces can use massive magic circles similar to the Cross Flames she used during the first phase.

Keep a safe distance from the magic circles and look for Hecate’s real body once again, but with more caution as the clones have more firepower this time.
