Shine Sprites are a type of collectible in Paper Mario RPG: The Thousand-Year Door. They are used to level-up your companions by talking to Merlon,.

You will need three (3) Shrine Sprites to raise the level of a companion by one (1).

After clearing Chapter 5: The Key to Pirates, you will be able to increase a companion’s level by one more level.

You can talk Merlon in the east area of Rogueport after clearing Chapter 5 and obtaining the Up Arrow in Hooktail Castle. Doing so lets you raise your companion’s level by one more level to learn Ultra-Rank moves.

How to Get Up Arrow

You can obtain the Up Arrow from the treasure chest after destroying the cracked wall using Admiral Bobbery’s ability in the back area of ​​Hooktail Castle (the area where the thorns come out from the ceiling).
