Chapter 1: Castle and Dragon Walkthrough and Guide for Paper Mario RPG: The Thousand-Year Door
Start Petal Meadows and build a bridge.
| 1 | You will start chapter 1 at Petal Meadows. Gain control of Paper Mario and head east through the plains. |
|---|---|
| 2 | Examine the darker grass to reveal a green warp pipe. |
| 3 | Hit the left tree with a hammer move to get a Star Piece x1 |
| 4 | Jump into the warp pipe and transfer to the background area. |
| 5 | Press the block over the river to build a bridge. |
| 6 | Don’t leave yet and go further east to get another Star Piece x1. |
| 7 | Return to the previous plain and cross the bridge. Enter the Petalburg city. |
Visit Petalburg city and speak to Mayor Pink.
| 1 | Inside Petalburg, go east and reach the next area. |
|---|---|
| 2 | Enter Mayor Pink’s house and talk to him. You will be given a task to defeat Hooktail. |
| 3 | Go outside and receive a message from Professor Frankly. |
| 4 | Speak to the Koopa guard and gain access to the road leading to Shhwonk Fortress. |
Enter the Shhwonk Fortress and get the POW Blocks.
| 1 | Head east and see the POW Block near the entrance of the Shhwonk Fortress. Examine the item block. |
|---|---|
| 2 | Enter the fortress and you can equip your Power Smash Badge in advanced. Inspect the pedestal to start the battle. |
| 3 | Defeat the Bald Clefts using the POW Block or use the Power Smash Badge to take care of them. Normal moves will not work against the enemies. |
| 4 | After the battle, move east further. Get another POW Block from the two bushes. |
| 5 | Go to the dungeon and take down the Bald Clefts with Bristle enemies. POW Blocks are also effective against Bristles. |
| 6 | Keep going and reach the next area. See another item block containing an Inn Coupon and go southeast to reach it. |
| 7 | Before you enter, use your hammer move against the closest tree to get a Happy Heart Badge x1. |
| 8 | Enter the chamber and talk to the sleeping Thwomp. |

| 1 | After speaking with Shhwonk, the sleeping Thwomp, follow his direction. |
