Things to Do before Chapter 3 Summary
- Go to Flurrie’s house.
- Open the treasure chest in the Rogueport Sewers.
- Collect the Star Pieces
- Invest coins in Lumpy
- Complete Trouble Center Bulletin Board Requests
- Raise the level of your party members.

Before returning to Rogueport Sewers, head to Flurrie’s house and get the “Super Appeal P Badge” from the treasure chest inside her bedroom. There is also a Star Piece in front of the bed, which you can get by using the Spin Jump.
Open the treasure chest in the Rogueport Sewers.
The “Happy Heart P Badge” can be obtained from a treasure chest that becomes accessible when you use Flurrie’s ice breath on the wall by the stairs near the Save Block in Rogueport Sewers. This area is also where you acquired the “Black Key”.

Invest in Lumpy
Investing 100 coins in Lumpy can yield a higher return. The initial investment earns you 300 coins; the second, 500 coins; and the third, 999 coins, upon completing Chapter 6. Note that you can invest three times, from the prologue until the start of Chapter 4.
This is a beneficial deal, so it’s wise to reserve some coins for this opportunity.
Complete Trouble Center Bulletin Board Requests
We highly recommend completing Trouble Center Bulletin Board requests after completing each chapter. The following requests will become available after Chapter 2:

Raise the level of your party members.
Head to Merlon’s house to increase your party members’ level in exchange for Shine Sprites x3. This is to prepare them for the upcoming battles in Chapter 3: Of Glitz and Glory.
Chapter 3: Of Glitz and Glory Walkthrough and Guide for Paper Mario RPG: The Thousand-Year Door
Heading to Glitzville
| 1 | Stand on the pedestal in front of The Thousand-Year Door in the sewers of Rogueport. |
|---|---|
| 2 | Get some information from the snail located on the east side of Rogueport. |
| 3 | The snail will ask for 64 coins in exchange for information about Don Pianta. Note that you don’t have to pay the snail if you follow the steps below. |
| 4 | Head to the shop on the west side of Rogueport. |
| 5 | Buy the “Dried Mushroom” and “Dizzy Dial” in the shop. |
| 6 | Make sure that you buy the “Dried Mushroom” first before the “Dizzy Dial”. |
| 7 | The shopkeeper will then ask for your favorite color. Answer “Yellow”. |
| 8 | Afterwards, the shopkeeper will open a door, which leads to Don Pianta. |
| 9 | Speak to Don Pianta. |
| 10 | Speak to Francesca and her friends at the port. (You can choose any dialogue.) |
| 11 | Speak to Don Pianta again to get the “Blimp Ticket.” |
| 12 | Present the “Blimp Ticket” to the guard on the right side of the Rogueport Station. |
| 13 | Get the Star Piece behind the pipe before boarding the airship. |
Glitzville
| 1 | Enter the Blitz Pit and go to the audience seats through the big door. |

| 2 | Use Spin Jump in front of the Glitzville Street Square to get a Star Piece. |
| 3 | Head to the left side of Glitzville and go behind the phone booth to get a Star Piece. |
| 4 | Head to the right side of Glitzville Square and get the Star Piece near the huge poster. |
| 5 | Get the Star Piece behind plant near the market’s entrance. |
| 6 | Get the Star Piece behind the counter of the Juice Bar on the right side of Glitzville Square. |
| 7 | Head to the right side of Glitzville Square and go up the roof of the building to get the “Power Plus P Badge” from the empty box. |
| 8 | Speak to the guard in front of a door in the lobby. |
| 9 | Get the Star Piece next to the stairs on the left side of the Glitz Pit lobby. |
| 10 | Speak to the guard in front of the fourth door in the hallway. |
| 11 | Get the “Last Stand Badge” from the box in the middle of the hallway. |
| 12 | Rest on the bed if you need to. |
| 13 | Examine the computer in the locker room to sign up for your first match. |
Win the Minor League matches.
| 1 | Defeat 19th place, The Goomba Bros. Use AoE attacks like Koops’ Power Shell to defeat them all at once. |

| 2 | Defeat 18th place, The KP Koopas. Use the Quake Hammer to deal damage to both enemies and other attacks that can hit flying enemies. |
| 3 | Listen to King K (KP Pete) in the locker room. He will tell you about the hot dog shop that uses Mysterious Eggs. |
| 4 | Go to the hot dog shop on Glitzville Square and catch the egg. |
| 5 | Follow the egg on the roof of the hot dog shop. |
| 6 | Win the matches against 14th place – 11th place. |
| 7 | Fight the Armored Harriers for Major League 10th place. You won’t be able to win this match on the first try, so run away in the meantime. |
| 8 | Return to the Minor League locker room. The egg that you caught will finally hatch, resulting in a new party member, Yoshi. |
How to Customize Yoshi’s Color
The color of Yoshi is determined by the duration between obtaining the egg and the time it takes to reach the egg after the battle with the Armored Harriers.

Note that after 20 minutes, the time will reset to 0 minutes.
Win the Major League Matches
| 1 | Defeat 10th place, The Armored Harriers. Use Yoshi’s Gulp to finally defeat the Major League’s 10th place. |

| 2 | You will receive 30 coins once you reach the Major League. |
| 3 | Win against the 9th place and 8th place. |
| 4 | Head to the Juice Bar on the right side of Glitzville Square and get the “Super Hammer” from the master. |
| 5 | Go to the Minor League locker room and break the yellow block using your newly acquired “Super Hammer”. |
| 6 | Go to the back room, then use Yoshi to fly from the desk to the bookshelf to get the “Dubious Paper”. |
| 7 | Win against the 7th and 4th place. |
| 8 | Once you beat the 7th place, The Fuzz, the Armored Harriers will join the fight. Use Yoshi’s Gulp again to defeat them. |
| 9 | Once you beat Craw-Daddy (5th place), Bowser will join the fight. Beware of Bowser’s bite, as it will Poison you, and Bowser’s hip attack, which will disable your battle commands. |
| 10 | Get the “Storage Key” from the phone booth on the left side of Glitzville Square. |
| 11 | Enter the Glitz Pit storage room using the “Storage Key”. |
| 12 | Use Flurrie’s ice breath to blow away the containers, revealing the yellow blocks. |
| 13 | Break the yellow blocks and press the switch at the back. |
| 14 | You can get the “Charge P Badge” by blowing away the containers on the first floor of the storage room. |
| 15 | You can also get a Star Piece by doing a Spin Jump at the center of the first floor of the storage room. |
| 16 | Head to the second floor and ride Yoshi from the top of the wooden box to the top of the left wooden box. |
| 17 | Get the Star Piece along the main path. |
| 18 | Ride Yoshi again once you see another wooden boxes. Fly from the wooden box on the top left to get the “HP Plus Badge”. |
| 19 | Break the huge yellow block in the back to reach the next area. |
| 20 | Examine the small hole in the back. |
| 21 | Listen to the conversation. (You can choose any option.) |
| 22 | Return to the first floor through the vent using Paper Mode. |
| 23 | Win against the matches against 3rd place~1st place. |
Win the match against Rawk Hawk
| 1 | Use Flurrie’s breath to peel off the poster on the left side of the second floor lobby. |

| 2 | Get the “Storage Key”. |
| 3 | Ride Yoshi and fly from one crate to the other. |
| 4 | Break the giant yellow block on the right. You will then find King K. and Bandy Andy. |
| 5 | Get the Star Piece near King K. and Bandy Andy. |
| 6 | Return to the Major League locker room and request for a match with Rawk Hawk. |
| 7 | You will then be locked up in the room. Use Flurrie’s ice breath to peel off the poster on the right side of the room to open a way out of the room. |
| 8 | Go on top of the toilet seat on the right side of the room. |
| 9 | Head to the ring and fight Rawk Hawk. |
Rawk Hawk Boss Fight
Rawk Hawk has high attack power and a wide variety of attacks.
When the boss’ HP drops to a certain level, he will grab on the steel beams and hang on them.
While the boss is hanging on the beams, you can use Flurrie’s Slam or Mario’s Quake Hammer to knock Rawk Hawk to the ground.
Defeat Macho Grubba
| 1 | After defeating Rawk Hawk, head to the Champion’s Room, then ride Yoshi and jump from the top of the box on the left to the door. From there, jump to reach the air vent. |

| 2 | Use your hammer to break the grates on the vent, then proceed further. |
| 3 | Break the grates to get out of the vent and enter the promoter’s room. |
| 4 | Examine the drawer on the left side of the desk. |
| 5 | Get the Star Piece hidden on the left side of the plant in the room. |
| 6 | Get the Star Piece on the right side of the desk in the room. |
| 7 | Defeat Macho Grubba. |
Macho Grubba Boss Fight
Macho Grubba has the ability to continuously increase his attack and defense power. Therefore, it is recommended to use Koops’ Shell Shield to reduce incoming damage and Yoshi’s Mini-Egg to shrink the boss and reduce his attack power.
If you are in a bad situation, use the special attack “Clock Out” to stop Macho Grubba from moving. Doing so will allow you to recover and get back on your feet during the battle.
