How to Beat Balteus

Fight at a safe distance

It is recommended to fight Balteus at mid-range or long-range distance while using pulse guns and laser cannons.

The main reason is that if you get too close to the boss, you will find it harder to evade the boss’ gatling guns and missiles, and your probability of getting hit will increase.

Engaging in close-range combat can also be effective

Fighting at mid-range or long-range distance is probably the safest way to approach this boss fight. However, it is always up to you whether you want to fight the boss at a safe distance or engage in close combat.

Destroy the pulse armor using pulse guns

Balteus’ pulse armor can be torn down effectively by using the “Hi-16: GU-Q1” pulse gun. The pulse gun can be purchased at the shop before the boss fight.

Equipping the pulse gun on both hands can quickly destroy the pulse armor. Doing this can also make you less concerned about the number of bullets you have.

Use Laser Cannon once Balteus’ barrier is destroyed

Once Balteus’ pulse armor is destroyed, use the laser cannon to inflict massive damage.

Missiles can also be an alternative, as they can also deal huge damage, although laser cannons are easier to control and significantly faster in terms of bullet speed.

Do not charge your Laser Cannon

When using the laser cannon, it is best to shoot without charging it, as it is more efficient at inflicting damage.

Charging the laser cannon will increase its power, but it becomes more difficult to aim at a target, and it causes the weapon to overheat once used, which may result in a decrease in damage efficiency.

Avoid missiles using Assault Boost

The barrage of missiles launched by Balteus can be avoided by using the Assault Boost.

It is possible to avoid all missiles if you execute the Assault Boost perfectly when the missiles are all fully deployed.

Counterattack whenever possible

After dodging the missiles, there will be an opening for a counterattack, so use this opportunity to deal damage to Balteus’ pulse armor.

If you managed to tear down enough of the pulse armor, you can destroy it the next time the boss approaches, giving you another opportunity to counterattack.

How to Beat Balteus (Enhanced State)

Balteus Enhanced Mode

When Balteus’ AP drops to nearly half, he will suddenly change into his enhanced mode. There are a few changes in this mode, such as slight changes in movement pattern and an attack using a flamethrower.

Dodge the first consecutive attack by keeping a distance

Once Balteus enters Enhanced Mode, he will generate a huge pulse wave and execute consecutive attacks. Keep a safe distance to avoid these attacks, and beware of his new flamethrower attack.

Balteus movement pattern remains basically the same, but the addition of the flamethrower makes close combat even harder.

Avoid the Flamethrower attack

The flamethrower has a wide attack range, making it hard to dodge when fighting at close range.

If you are far enough from flamethrower’s range, you can dodge the attack by using your boost backwards.

Therefore, it is recommended to keep a safe distance and use mid-range or long-range weapons to attack.

Don’t miss the opportunity to attack

There are 3 offensive opportunities against Balteus to watch out for.

  • After successfully dodging a missile using the Assault Boost.
  • After successfully dodging the flamethrower.
  • When Balteus approaches you in a straight direction.

Take advantage of these opportunities to destroy Balteus’ pulse armor. Use the pulse gun to tear down his pulse armor, then use the laser cannon to inflict massive damage once the barrier is destroyed.
