New Features and Mechanics

Repair Kit

Using a Repair Kit restores your AC’s AP (Armor Points).

Repair Kits can be used up to 3 times in a single sortie (mission).

Respawning from a checkpoint resets the Repair Kit’s number of uses, allowing it to be used again up to 3 times.

The initial AP recovered of a Repair Kit is 4000.

Impact Gauge

Forces the player and enemies into a staggered state when it is full.

When the Impact gauge reaches its maximum level, an AC or enemy will enter a temporary staggered state which prevents them from moving while also taking more damage than normal.

Both your AC and the enemy have an Impact meter that displays how close you are to entering the vulnerable state.

A staggered unit will be incapacitated for a few seconds and will suffer more incoming damage. Taking advantage of this mechanic is especially useful when facing challenging enemies protected by heavy armor.

Target Assist

Lets you easily aim your camera toward the direction of the enemy.

If you turn on the Target Assist function, you will be able to control your AC in such a way that you are always facing the direction of one locked-on enemy.

Since the Target Assist featured can be switched on and off with the press of a button, you can use freely adjust your preferred lock-on method any time during battle.

OS Tuning

AC performance enhancements that are unlocked as you progress through the main story.

Applying enhancements on your AC via OS Tuning will increase the basic performance of your machine.

As you progress through the game’s main story missions, more OS Tuning options will become available.

OS Tuning may make controlling your AC a little more complicated, but will essentially give you more options during battle. Because of this, you will need to get used to the enhancements little by little which can increase your chances of survival during missions.

OS Tuning Enhancements

Boost Kick Unlocks the ability to perform a Boost Kick. Boost Kicks hit with heavy impact by combining the speed of an Assault Boost with the sheer weight of the AC.

Press L3 during Assault Boost: Boost Kick

Weapon Bay Unlocks the Weapon Bay feature for AC shoulders, allowing up to four hand weapons to be equipped.

With hand weapon equipped to corresponding shoulder:
R1: Switch Right Hand Weapon
L1: Switch Left Hand Weapon

Weight Control Unlocks the ability to sortie when AC is overburdened and to manually purge weapons. Purging weapons reduces weight load and improves speed.

Manual Aiming Unlocks the ability to perform manual aiming. Allows for manual reticle control, but practical usage calls for experienced technique.

Hold R3: Enable Manual Aiming
Press R3 with Manual Aiming ON: Disable Manual Aiming

Quick Turn Unlocks the Quick Turn feature, allowing the AC to perform snap turns to side or rear directions.

Assault Armor (Core Expansion) Unlocks Core Expansion: Assault Armor and allows it to be installed. Assault Armor creates a pulse explosion centered on the AC, canceling out incoming enemy fire and creating a damaging area-of-effect shockwave.

L3 + △: Activate Assault Armor

Pulse Protection (Core Expansion)
Unlocks Core Expansion: Pulse Protection and allows it to be installed. Pulse Protection creates a pulse barrier in a fixed position, providing cover from enemy fire until the barrier reaches its durability or time limit.

L3 + △: Activate Pulse Protection

Pulse Armor Unlocks Core Expansion: Pulse Armor and allows it to be installed. Pulse Armor creates a pulse barrier that trails the AC, dramatically increasing defensive performance until it exceeds its durability or time limit.

L3 + △: Activate Pulse Armor

Terminal Armor Unlocks Core Expansion: Terminal Armor and allows it to be installed. Terminal Armor automatically triggers a pulse barrier when the AC’s AP reaches its limit, greatly enhancing defense until the barrier reaches its durability or time limit.

When equipped, activates automatically when AP falls to 0.

Gameplay Changes and Differences from Past Games

Scan

Scanning detects nearby enemies and containers (boxes holding AC Parts).

Targets detected by scanning will be highlighted for a certain period of time, and objects such as enemy aircraft and containers can be locked on even through walls.

Ricochet (Bounce)

If the armor of the enemy is thick, the damage caused by your attack will be reduced.

To know if your attack bounced, check if “RICOCHET” is displayed under the AP gauge of the enemy unit.

To defeat foes with thick armor that can ricochet your shots, you must first force them into a staggered stage by building up their Impact gauge.
