- The Cathedral of Light will appear on the map unless you have cleared the story campaign.
- To unlock World Tier 3 (Nightmare difficulty), you must clear World Tier 2 (Veteran difficulty).
How to Unlock Nightmare Difficulty
Clear the Cathedral of Light Capstone Dungeon at World Tier 2 (Veteran difficulty).
World Tier 3 (Nightmare difficulty) is unlocked only after you have beaten the main story campaign and cleared the Cathedral of Light Capstone Dungeon in Kyovashad on World Tier 2 (Veteran difficulty).
Note that the requirement for clearing the story campaign can be met even on World Tier 1 (Adventurer difficulty).
The Cathedral of Light Capstone Dungeon on World Tier 2 is quite challenging to clear so be sure to be at a high enough level with decent gear before you attempt it.
Nightmare Difficulty Features
Recommended Character Level
Level 50 to 70.
Additional Mechanics
- Sacred Items and Unique Items become obtainable.
- Nightmare Sigils that unlock Nightmare Dungeons become obtainable.
- Helltides occur throughout Sanctuary.
- Champion-level monsters with aura that greatly reduces damage start to appear.
Enemy Changes
- Enemies are significantly more powerful.
- EXP gained from defeating enemies is increased by 100%.
- Gold dropped by enemies is increased by 15%.
- Enemies ignore resistance by 20%.
