How to Get Murmuring Obols Guide for Diablo 4

Clear random events.

Murmuring Obols are a type of currency found in treasure chests that appear after clearing random World Quests or events throughout various areas in the game.

Random event areas are shown in orange on the map.

If you find a random event, try to clear it as soon as possible.

How to Use Murmuring Obols

Exchange for various rare items from the Curiosity Vendor (Purveyor of Curiosities).

Murmuring Obols are used to purchase items from the Curiosity Vendor at Kyovashad.

Murmuring Obols can be traded with the Curiosity Vendor in exchange for various equipment and items.

Exchange items available at the Curiosity Vendor include weapons, armor, and Whispering Keys.

Equipment obtained from the Curiosity Vendor are random, with rarity of gear you get ranging from Common to Legendary.

Recommended Exchange Items for Spending Murmuring Obols.

Prioritize equipment types where you do not have any Legendary rarity gear yet.

You should give priority to purchasing a type of gear where you do not have any Legendaries yet.

The rarity of the equipment obtained you get from the Curiosity Vendor is random, but you can get a Legendary about once every 3 times you trade.

Replace weak equipment.

Once all your gear have been swapped out for Legendary equipment, use Murmuring Obols to get weapons or armor to replace those with the lowest performance.

Exchange 40 armor for Obols.

Once you have all the equipment and have run out of items to exchange, it is recommend try and collect Legendary gear by exchanging caps, tunics, gloves, boots, and pants which require the least amount of Obols.

It is not recommended to purchase Whispering Keys.

Whispering Keys, which can be exchanged for 20 Obols each, are needed to open Silent Chests which may also contain Legendary gear. It is not recommended to spend Murmuring Obols on these items as Legendaries are less likely to appear in Silent Chests.

How to Increase Murmuring Obols Carry Limit

Reach Renown Level 4

At the start of the game, the maximum number of Obols you can carry is 500. You can, however, raise the limit by leveling up your Renown to Level 4. This upgrades your maximum Obol carry capacity to +80.

If you your Renown Level of all 5 regions to 4, your max Obol carry limit will increase by 80 × 5 to 400. This will allow you to increase the maximum number of Obols you can have in your possession to 900.
