Why Should You Lower Your Car’s Performance Points (PP)?

Certain racing events in Gran Turismo 7 (GT7) require drivers to use cars within a specific PP limit to even out the playing field. In other words, you cannot enter a race if your car exceeds the allowable PP that will give you an unfair advantage over rivals. Because of this, it is important to know how to lower your car’s PP in the garage.

Best Cars Based on PP

Lower PP by Adjusting Car Settings

Use Stock Parts (Standard)

To reduce a car’s PP, go to your Garage and select any of your cars. Then, choose Car Settings. From here, you can tweak various aspects of your vehicle such as Tires, Suspension, Differential Gear, ECU, Supercharge, Intake & Exhaust, Brakes, Steering, Drivetrain from the settings sheet that all affect its PP.

In most cases, the process of lowering the car’s PP is done by simply switching out any tuning parts you have installed on it and using the Standard (stock) parts. This method should be enough to decrease the vehicle’s performance to a value that does not exceed the limit allowed for specific races.

Undo the Effects of Car Body Weight Reduction

Applying weight reductions stages to your car also affects its PP. Unfortunately, the only way to undo its effects is to purchase an entirely new car body from the Tuning Shop. This can only be done after unlocking the Extreme tuning tab upon reaching Car Collector Level 7. Purchasing a new car body is expensive but reverts your car’s weight back to its standard (stock) measurement.

Effects of Oil Change to PP

Changing the oil of your vehicle will slightly increase its max power, which may result in a higher PP than what is allowed for the event you intend to join. The new oil applied degrades after certain mileages so its effects will wear off eventually after you have used the car on several events.
