Permanent Events and Missable Features Guide for Ys X: Nordics
Some in-game terms are roughly translated from the Japanese version of Ys X: Nordics (Ys 10). We will update them with those in the English versions upon the game’s global release.
Lowering the difficulty after starting in Nightmare mode is permanent.
Starting a New Game (NG) in Ys X: Nordics (Ys 10) on Nightmare or Inferno difficulty and lowering it to Hard, Normal, or Easy at any point in the game cannot be undone. This means that you will no longer be able to change the game mode to Nightmare or Inferno afterwards.
Note that playing on Nightmare or Inferno difficulty throughout the game’s 10 story chapters is the only way to unlock The One Who Transcends Nightmares (silver trophy) achievement. You will be locked out of getting this trophy for the duration of your playthrough if you change the difficulty to Hard or lower.
Non-Permanent (Reversible) Features
You can change the difficulty at any time (except on Nightmare and Inferno mode).
You can change the game difficulty freely during play by going to the menu screen and choosing System. As mentioned in the section regarding lowering the difficulty on Nightmare or Inferno, you will only be able to lower the setting to Hard, Normal, or Easy only once if you start the game on the two most challenging modes.
Mana Seeds set on the Release Line can be rearranged.
Your Mana Seed setup can be changed at any time on the Release Line.
Dialogue responses do not affect the main story.
Choices you make during conversations have no effect on the game’s mains story. Because of this, just pick a dialogue response that you like or feel is the most appropriate for how you experienced the prior events and interactions in the game.
