Code Vein - More Than An Anime Dark Souls?

A lot of people seem to think that Code Vein is just another Anime Dark Souls. But don't worry, here are some thiings that the creators will clarify for you

Code Vein: More Than An Anime Dark Souls?

Code Vein, one of the latest games, appears like Dark Souls. In fact, many of the fans say that it appears as a reduced version of Dark Souls. Or, what they would say as the “anime Dark Souls”. Despite it being an Anime Dark Souls, Code Vein appears to have more to offer which makes it different from Dark Souls. This wasn’t the first game that is said to appear similar to Dark Souls. The Surge and Nioh found itself compared to Dark Souls and even Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild appeared to have some Dark Soul-esque features.

What makes Code Vein different from Dark Souls?

Code Vein Anime Dark Souls

According to the makers of Code Vein, while they did want an Anime feel, they didn’t want it completely “cartoony”. Therefore, they decided to make a blend of both. While retaining some of the brutality and bloodstained environments of Dark Soul, Code Vein added a little more bizzare factor by making it animated. Another that makes it no longer just an Anime Dark Souls, according to the creators, is the existence of vampires. It is a constant battle between one’s humanity and demonic self, making sure they don’t lose themselves to their bloodlust.

Another thing that the creators noted is the EXP gain. While they did follow the whole lose-EXP-upon-death penalty, the developers also intend to add a different way of gaining EXP.

However, what makes this game stand out is the Blood Draining system. In order to execute certain moves, the character needs blood. But to get blood, the player needs to drain them from enemies. Unfortunately, with multiple enemies, that’s going to be quite a hurdle. Also, blood draining a boss? Good luck.

Ready for Code Vein?

To be honest, I’m pretty psyched about Code Vein. While Dark Souls is the king of all Hack and Slash games, this game may have its own identity that will make it not just an anime Dark Souls.
