Pokemon UNITE is a 5v5 multiplayer online battle arena (MOBA) game featuring various characters from the Pokemon series of games. Players can choose from a current roster of 20 playable Pokemon, each with their own unique skills and abilities to battle AI-controlled “wild” Pokemon and those used by the opposing team.
Each team must collect a key resource called Aeos energy by defeating wild Pokemon or other players and deposit them in several goal zones found on opposing team’s side of the map. Doing so earns each team points. At the end of the game, the team with the most points wins.
Gameplay centers around having a keen strategy to defeat enemies encountered on the battlefield while defending the team’s goal zones to prevent the opposing from scoring.
A unique feature in Pokemon UNITE is the ability of certain Pokemon to evolve, making them more powerful in battle. By defeating enemies in battle, Pokemon will grow stronger, gain new moves, and ultimately give their team the edge during encounters.
Similar to may MOBA games, players can equip different held items on their Pokemon to gain bonuses in battle. Each Pokemon can hold up to three pieces of equipment at a time, opening huge possibilities in terms of character builds for any situation against enemies.
Different legendary Pokemon will occasionally appear on the map in an area called the Legend Pit. These immensely powerful Pokemon will require a good team to take on and will grant various advantages after they are defeated.
