Gameplay Summary

Adopts Very Specific Playstyles Depending on Lv. 4 Move Chosen

Crustle’s playstyle for the duration of the game is heavily based on what move you choose upon reaching Lv. 4.

Getting Rock Tomb sets you up to handle controlling space by hindering enemies who try to score. This move is also good for splitting up the enemy teams during team fights, making them hard to coordinate attacks.

Getting Shell Smash instead allows you to buff your movement speed and attack power, making Crustle more involved in offensive duties and scoring.

Deciding which move to get depends on the composition of your team and the enemy’s. Try to assess situations on the battlefield as well to help you choose which role to focus on and gain the advantage.

Recommended Moves

Name Effects

Rock Tomb (Lv.4)

Area

Splits open the ground toward the designated area, dealing damage to opposing Pokemon in the area of effect and creating a barricade of rock. If used again, gets rid of the barricade.

Cooldown: 5 seconds

Shell Smash (Lv.4)

Buff

Has the user smash their shell, converting a set percentage of Defense and Sp. Def into Attack and Sp. Atk and increasing the user’s movement speed for a short time.

Cooldown: 7 seconds

X-Scissor (Lv.6)

Melee

Has the user dash forward with crossed claws, dealing damage to opposing Pokemon multiple times and shoving them. Leaves opposing Pokemon unable to act if they hit an object when shoved.

Cooldown: 8 seconds

Rock Tomb or Shell Smash (Lv.4)

As mentioned above, the choice to get either Rock Tomb or Shell Smash at level 4 depends on factors such as team composition (both your team and the enemy’s) and changing situations on the battlefield. Note that Rock Tomb requires good timing, creativity, and positioning to use its area denial effects to the fullest. You may opt to choose Shell Smash instead to simply play a more damage-oriented role during the game.

X-Scissor (Lv.6)

X-Scissor grants Crustle a good option for dealing damage and is generally the better choice over Stealth Rock for most situations. If your team is lacking decent crowd control tools or has more than enough firepower to dish out during team fights, you can choose Stealth Rock instead.
