Game Overview
The Legend of Heroes: Trails to Azure (英雄伝説 零の軌跡, The Legend of Heroes: Ao no Kiseki), is a single-player, turn-based role-playing game developed by Nihon Falcom. The game is published by NIS America for the PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, and PC (via Steam, Epic Games, and GOG). It is the fifth installment of The Legend of Heroes series and the sequel to Trails from Zero. Trails to Azure is the second and last part of The Legend of Heroes series’ Crossbell Arc, the second main story arc.
The game was first launched in Japan on September 29, 2011, for the PlayStation Vita. Because Trails of Cold Steel was selected for worldwide distribution first, no English versions of Trails from Zero and Trails to Azure the game were developed. An official English version of the Crossbell duology was eventually announced last June 2021 starting with Trails from Zero. Trails to Azure was slated to be published next on March 14, 2023, 2023 in North America, March 17, 2023, in Europe, and March 24, 2023, in Australasia.
Story Overview
Crossbell, a self-governing demilitarized buffer state, has achieved temporary peace months after the events of Trails from Zero. As a result of their heroic actions, the Special Support Section (SSS), led by Lloyd Bannings, has achieved newfound recognition and prominence. In addition, new recruits have joined the team, including Army sergeant major Noel Seeker and former gang boss Wazy Hemisphere.
KeA, a young girl protected by Lloyd and the SSS, is being pursued by dark forces who want to use her powers. To foil their plans, the SSS must brave public turmoil and occult invasions. As a byproduct of these events, they increase pressure from two neighboring powers, the Erebonian Empire and the Republic of Calvard.
Lloyd and his companions must prepare for the dangers that await them, as the safety of their home and the foundations of their team are now at stake. The leading characters are unaware that a crucial battle that would decide the future of Crossbell would take place there soon.
The major plot of Trails to Azure is linked to the plot of Trails of Cold Steel II’s “Divertissement” chapter, as well as the events of the Trails of Cold Steel series’ latter half games Trails of Cold Steel III and Trails of Cold Steel IV.
