Recruit and Veteran Difficulty Comparison

Recruit Difficulty

• Recommended for beginners
• The easiest difficulty in the game
• Enemies have low HP.

Veteran Difficulty

• Recommended for experienced players.
• Enemies deal higher damage.
• Enemies are more accurate and might hit you more often.
• Your character has a lower HP.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 (MW3) Game Difficulty Guide

Select Veteran Difficulty in the Campaign Mode.

Before the Campaign starts, you will be given an option to choose which difficulty you want to play. Select the Veteran difficulty and proceed to the first mission.

Pause the game as soon as you take control of your character.

Once the cutscene has finished playing out, pause the game and select “Change Difficulty” on the menu.

Change the game difficulty to Recruit.

In the “Change Difficulty” menu, select the Recruit difficulty and proceed to the mission. This will make enemies easier to deal with, which will also allow you to finish missions much faster. Note that if you die on the mission, you will have to change the game difficulty back to Veteran and restart the mission.

Change the game difficulty to Veteran before the mission ends.

This is the most crucial part of this guide. Keep in mind that you must change the game difficulty back to Veteran before the mission ends. This will allow you to finish the mission on Veteran difficulty even though you have played the entire mission on Recruit difficulty. Repeat the procedures on every mission.

During the start of a new mission, pause the game and check if it starts on Veteran difficulty. If it starts with Veteran difficulty, it means that you have successfully completed the previous mission on Veteran difficulty. Afterwards, repeat the procedures and finish the mission.
