How to Scout Monsters Guide for Dragon Quest Monsters: The Dark Prince (DQ Monsters: The Dark Prince)
How to Scout Monsters
Check the Scouting Power.
The success rate of your Scout is determined by your Scouting Power, which is displayed on the right side of the screen after a scout attack. Keep in mind that whenever Scout fails, the target may become angry, and when that happens, your target will be immune to Scouting. With that in mind, you can Scout an enemy as many times as you want, as long as the target is not angry.
Angered enemies cannot be Scouted.
If enemies become “Angered,” they will receive a boost on their damage and will be immune against scout attacks, preventing you from scouting or capturing them. Nevertheless, do not flee or give up the fight easily, as the monsters in the game may decide to join you after the battle has ended.
Scouting existing monsters on your roster decreases the Scout Rate.
Scouting monsters that you already own will reduce the success rate of Scout. The reduction will depend on the number of identical monsters on your roster. However, if you release or use the monsters for Synthesis, the Scout Rate will return to normal.
Befriending the monsters
There’s another way to add or recruit monsters aside from Scouting. Although this may not happen all the time, monsters you have defeated may join you after the battle. Therefore, if you are on the hunt for some monsters and have failed to Scout them, win the battle and don’t give up easily. In addition, using Monster Meat can increase the chance of befriending the monsters.

The battle will end immediately if the Scout is successful.
Keep in mind that the battle will end immediately if you have successfully Scouted a monster. Therefore, if multiple enemies appear, you can prioritize defeating other enemies to gain experience points before Scouting the monster you wish to add to your roster.
