Ephraim, an adept lancer, prince, and the brother of Eirika. He hails from Renais and debuts in Fire Emblem: The Sacred Stones and returns as a new summon in Fire Emblem: Heroes!
Stats
During the initial stage, he buffs up allies with Siegmund which allows others to deal higher damage against low Def opponents barring armored units. As a Thunder attribute Lancer, he possesses a slightly lower variation of Effie while maintaining a higher magic resistance and Speed. His attack is nearly similar to Lucina’s, however Ephraim does not have an exceptional Speed. Still, Ephraim serves as a team-player with his skills and bulk.

How to Use
When spawned in a map where most teammates surround him, all allies within the range receive +3 ATK right off the bat. Pay attention when moving your heroes, as strategically placing them in specific tiles around Ephraim will preserve the buff. If there’s a corner, better to have Ranged allies placed there and get Ephraim to tank for them when armored units become a chore as he can effectively pierce through their DEF with Heavy Spear. Good teammates that can reduce enemy DEF/RES are recommended as these make Ephraim’s New Moon even more intimidating when Seal/Threaten Def aren’t invested on yet.
By carefully training him, Siegmund stacks pretty well with his Seal Def / Threaten Def skill at max level. This helps teammates put immense pressure against foes in the heat of battle. However, note that Seal Def and Threaten Def don’t stack with each other.
Why is he recommended?
One of the new characters released in Fire Emblem: Heroes’ Family Bonds pack, he possesses well-rounded stats. He functions as a reliable Tank and Support due to his above average Def and decent Res. His Siegmund which is equipped by default allows him to strengthen his teammates damage, making those who aren’t as threatening shine, and those who are already threatening to deal immense damage. This eases leveling for teammates who struggle during the initial stages due to the ATK boost granted by Siegmund.
Amidst his strong points, his Speed undermines his effectiveness to double attack when engaged in combat so it’s best to have a cleric at the back to maximize his tanking ability or some buffed Ranged heroes to prevent non-armored from ganging up on him.
