Henry
Personal Evaluation | 8.0/10 |
Attribute / Weapon | Fire / Tome |
Rank | ~3-5 Stars |
Title | Twisted Mind |
First Appearance | Fire Emblem Awakening |
Voice Actor | Bryce Papenbrook |
Although he has a huge smile, his backstory is quite dark. As a toddler, his parents sent him away to a Magic School in hopes of abandoning him. With lack of parental care, Henry grew closer in the company of animals. His fondness led him to befriend a wolf, but when the villagers found out, they decided to kill it. As Henry found the wolf’s corpse surrounded by the villagers, he went on a killing spree.
He first appears in Fire Emblem Awakening and joins as a Hero to the Great Tactician in Fire Emblem: Heroes.
Stats
Henry is a decent ally even for a Rarity 4 Hero. Contrary to most builds, he does not suffer much damage from Short-Ranged attacks during the initial levels despite being a Caster due to his initial 8 Defense. This makes him ideal in both short, and long-ranged combat. The only problematic stat is that his Speed is lacking.

How to Use
As a Caster, it’s better to make use of the terrain by putting him at the back of a sword or lancer. He is able to punish opponents by maintaining one tile distance and can exchange some moderately powerful attacks against other Casters. Aim to get G Tomebreaker to deal better against Green Tome users.
Why is he recommended?
He might appear naive but Henry has a penchant for setting things ablaze. For a 4 Star, his Fire spell Glowing Ember is able to take out opponents especially Colorless. Even for a start, his Defense should not be overlooked since he withstands damage even when ambushed by several opponents.
However even with advantages against Archers, he still has some weaknesses to patch up as the case of fighting fellow Tome users when his skill fails to activate.
I want to love Henry, for he was one of my favorites from Awakening. I have a 4 Star Henry that had been my only mage for a long time (I never seem to pull mages). Currently he is level 30, and he excels at taking out knights, and that is about it. If he isn’t one turn killed by a mage or a melee unit that outspeeds him, his Defiant Defense makes him a better physical wall than Gwendolyn (currently my only armored unit). However the Atk, Spd, and Res are all laughable.

Hi Physicus, he was my first Mage in the roster too. I like the fact that he is a tad bit bulky but usually there are Ranged units on the opponent’s side. I’ll have a look at the other Tome users, so far a 4 Star Sophia has been performing excellently.
Henry is also lacking in the Atk department. My lvl 15 3-stars Henry has the following stats : HP28 Atk16 Def14 Res8 Spd10.
For comparison, my 3-stars lvl 19 Sophia has the same HP (28), same Def (14), same Spd (10), better Res (14, +6) and better Atk (25, +9) – without having her “Fenrir” weapon, which would give her another +3 Atk (Henry would gain bonus against colorless targets and +1 Atk with his 3-star weapon).
It makes Henry a poor choice against targets with high Res, even with the tactical bonus.
Hi VPU, yes, I’ve observed that too, it takes some time for him to defeat opponents in the latter levels. I was thinking of swapping him now with Cecilia since I’m lacking the wind attribute.
