Stats

He is quite defensive for a fire sword infantry during the start of training due to a generous amount of Def and Res.

As a 5 Star Hero, his Atk is quite commendable, similar to Lucina. Unfortunately, the problem lies in his Stat growth. Although Seliph has more defenses, the growth of this Stat is not as substantial as Lucina’s Speed growth. This is not to say that his Res excels either, as it only covers about 3 points above the Future Witness, if the Maximum is attained.

In general, his stat growth does not seem to shine during the latter stages. His Res can only reach a measly sub 30 stat, and his speed is problematic. His function seems to be a mixture between an offense and defense, but that role might be limited to catching the enemy off guard with an offense or physical tanking once his Stats further reveal themselves later on. Still if his use is desired, make sure to watch out for Tome users during the latter stages as they might be dealing more damage than you would expect.

How to Use

Arrange the team so that you can consistently move Seliph near allies which cannot double attack but can cover him while he uses Rally Speed. Even though he himself has low speed, he can fulfill as both a support and tank, due to his high defenses, particularly Def. An example of a low speed ally which Seliph can support is Effie, this enables her to double attack while on the offensive.

Get Brash Assault and HP+ to max and have allies which can use -Atk on enemies to take advantage of his Brash Assault 3 when defending. This in conjunction with Seliph’s Tyrfing can prolong his duration and maximize Rally Speed for them before the enemies finish could him off.

Why is he recommended?

He sports a similarity to Caeda due to his Rally Speed Skill, but he differs in that he cannot double attack every time he goes for the offense, he doesn’t also have good mobility due to the lack of a flier. Rally Speed enables one nearby ally to prepare a double attack before engaging in battle. This further boosts the effectiveness of heroes who do not normally have enough Speed to deal damage.

Selphi’s Def at the initial stage is similar to Lucina’s but he surpasses her in terms of Res. Thus, he’s fitting to fulfill a more defensive role, something that most similar fire sword infantry classes lack.

However, even with the number of support Skills, his Speed is lacking, this makes him vulnerable to most confrontations when he faces them head on. As a remedy, have allies gather around him so that the damage splits evenly among the group while he continues to buff one of them per turn. His maximum Def and Res are not outstanding either since these do not differ too much from Lucina’s.
