The engine swap upgrade in Forza Motorsport 8 (2023) is unlocked once you car reaches level 40 which requires massive amounts of car XP (CXP). It will likely take you a while to be able to change your vehicle’s default engine so it is recommended to focus on leveling up a small number of your favorite cars instead of constantly buying new ones in the beginning of Career mode.
