How to Unlock the Street Surfer

Becomes accessible during the main story.

The Street Surfer becomes available near the start of the game so simply go through the main story to use it for moving around Hawaii.

Press down on the directional pad to ride the Street Surfer.

To ride the Street Surfer segway scooter, press down (↓) on the directional pad while outside of battle. To get off, press down on the d-pad again, enter a battle, or approach a charging station found all throughout the city.

Press R2 after selecting your destination to auto-run.

By choosing your destination on the map and pressing R2, you can enable the Street Surfer to go into auto-run mode. This lets you travel without having to control the segway scooter manually to reach your desired location.

Note that entering battle or colliding with vehicles will instantly disable auto-run. Because of this, try to keep an eye on the road even if you are cruising automatically in the game.

How to Charge the Street Surfer

The Street Surfer runs on batteries that must be recharged when it is depleted. You can find charging stations to restore your segway to running condition which require money to use.

Street Surfer Charging Fee

Since constantly charging the Street Surfer is quite expensive, it is recommended to take a taxi instead if you want to travel to a far-away location.

You cannot talk to people while on the Street Surfer.

Note that you cannot interact with people when you are riding the Street Surfer. If you want to talk to someone, get off the Street Surfer by pressing down on the d-pad.

You cannot enter buildings while on the Street Surfer.

It is also not possible to enter buildings (including restaurants, shops, and other enclosed areas) when you are aboard the Street Surfer. You must get off if you want to enter any areas with a door to go through.

Street Surfer Customization

Features customizable body and tires.

You can customize the Street Surfer to suit your taste by changing out its body or tires in the game. These modifications are likely to not affect the segway scooter’s performance and are only a means to personalize your vehicle to your liking.
