Marvel's Spider-Man 2 - How to Scan

How to Scan in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2

Press R3 (right analog stick) to scan an area.

Pressing the R3 button (the right analog stick) on your controller will make you do a scan of your surroundings. Try to make it a habit to scan as often as possible whether in battle or while traversing the city so you do not miss out on anything of particular importance to investigate in the game.

Uses of Scanning

Used to display mission markers, collectibles, and objects that can be examined.

Scanning the game’s open world will display important markers to locations such as available missions and collectibles that you can pick up. This makes it easier to find the exact location of items and NPCs throughout the game.

Scanning is particularly useful when doing missions as markers will be displayed in the location of your next objective. Doing a scan when inside an scan enclosed area, for instance, will make it easier to spot objects you can interact with. Most items and structures you can examine or pick up are often clues to progress through the next section of the mission so be sure to scan as often as you can.

Markers will not disappear until you have cleared specific missions or found collectibles that they are pointing at. Note that fast-traveling to another district will cause the reset all markers so you will need to scan the area again to reveal them.
