How to Slow Time in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2

Assign Game Speed toggle to directional pad (Shortcut Select).

Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 lets you freely control game speed by pressing the left or right directional pad buttons at any time during gameplay. This can be done under Shortcut Select from the game’s settings menu.

The Game Speed setting under Shortcut Select lets you manually slow down time in the game to either 70%, 50%, and even 30% of its original speed (100%). Note that the game will return to normal conditions during cutscenes and other story events.

When to Use Slow Time

Useful during boss fights and other difficult encounters.

Being able to slow down time is especially useful when fighting bosses that have attacks you might have trouble reacting to. Enabling game speed toggling can also be advantageous when surrounded by multiple enemies as it may be difficult to keep track of what each foe is doing throughout every encounter in the game.

Can help you get through challenging chase sections.

You can also go through chase sections which require you to avoid obstacles and projectiles much easily if you have more time to avoid them. Because of this, feel free to reduce the game speed to as low as 30% if you need to.

No penalties for reducing game speed during the main story.

There are no consequences for slowing down time at any point during the main story. You will not miss out on any collectibles or achievements by toggling game speed via shortcuts as often as you want in the game.
