Is Venom Playable in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2?

May be playable during the main story.

While not yet confirmed, it is likely for Venom to be playable during the main story of Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, owing to the Venom symbiote’s central role throughout the game. Several rumors and alleged leaks online have also pointed to Venom being temporarily controllable by the player, giving fans a taste of the popular anti-hero’s powers and abilities.

Insomniac Games, the upcoming title’s developer, previously surprised die-hards of the Spider-Man franchise by letting them play as Mary Jane Watson, Peter Parker’s love interest, during a stealth section in the first game. It would then be reasonable to expect Insomniac to do the same in the latest entry which would hopefully allow players to take control of Venom this time around, even if only temporarily.

May be added as a fully-playable character via DLC.

Should the rumors and leaks prove false, Venom may still be added in the game as a fully-playable character through DLCs and updates. Possible content for the add-on may feature an actual story campaign that focuses on side events of Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 narrative from Venom’s perspective.
