Difficulty cannot be changed.

You cannot change the game difficulty in Pikmin 4. This means that all players will experience the same level of challenge during their playthrough of the game’s main story missions.

No harder difficulty modes unlocked on a second playthrough after clearing.

Unlike in Pikmin 3, there is no “harder” difficulty mode unlocked for clearing the game for the first time. Note that the fourth entry to the series also does not feature any form of New Game Plus (NG+) to begin a second playthrough.

How Difficult is Pikmin 4?

Easier compared to Pikmin 1 and Pikmin 2.

In general, the difficulty of Pikmin 4 is easier compared to Pikmin 1 and Pikmin 2. Pikmin 4 has a very good tutorial to help new players understand the game’s mechanics. Being able to automatically target enemies using thrown Pikmin has also been implemented which makes the game significantly less challenging than how it was in past titles in the series.

Easy to play for beginners.

Pikmin 4’s “Rewind Time” feature allows you to go back to any point from where you auto-saved. New players with no previous experience with the older Pikmin games will find this system particularly useful as it will allow them to learn through trial and error with no consequences.
