Pikmin 4 How Long is a Day In-Game?

Open the game menu.

You can stop time in the game simply by opening the game menu using the (+) or (-) buttons. This method essentially works as a pause function and is very useful for taking the time to plan your next move during each day. Being able to stop the day cycle is also handy during certain activities such as such as solving puzzles or deciding where you want to go next.

Go to the Rescue Command Post.

Time does not advance when you are at the Rescue Command Post, giving you all the time you need to make use of the different services offered by members of the Rescue Corps. Take as long as you want at the game’s main hub when preparing for the next mission.

Go underground.

The day will not end as long as you are underground so going inside caves is essentially another way to stop time in the game. The sun, however, will immediately set the moment you resurface if you if you spent the entire day (or remaining minutes of it) in a cave.

A good way to exploit this mechanic and get the most out of each day is to explore caves just before the sun sets as you can spend as much time as you want underground.
