What are Night Expeditions?
Special exploration missions that take place after dark.
Night Expeditions are a special type of exploration mission in Pikmin 4 that take place after dark. These challenges require you to investigate bases that you have previously discovered during the day and defend a structure called a Lumiknoll against frenzied creatures that appear within the time limit.
The difficulty of a Night Expedition is based on its Danger Level. More powerful frenzied creatures that appear in greater numbers are encountered in Night Expeditions with a Danger Level of 3 and above, demanding more skill from the player.
You will only have access to Glow Pikmins and Oatchi during Night Expeditions. You can grow more Glow Pikmins during Night Expeditions to improve your defenses by collecting Glow Pellets and transporting them back to the Lumiknoll or various Trickknolls around the base.
How to Unlock Night Expeditions
Rescue Yonny.
Night Expeditions are unlocked once you have rescued Yonny in the sixth underground cave you enter at Sun-Speckled Terrace after clearing five of them in the region. Then, talk to Yonny at the Rescue Command Post to begin a Night Expedition to an area you have visited during the main story missions.

Night Expedition Rewards
Successfully defending the Lumiknoll or taking down all frenzied enemies rewards you with Glowing Sap, a rare material used to cure Leafling Castaways rescued throughout the game. Upon restoring a Leafling to its original self, you will be rewarded with Pup Drive points used to unlock and upgrade Oatchi’s different skills.
