What are Dandori Battles?

Special Split-Screen Challenges Unlocked Throughout the Game

Dandori Battles are special challenges in Pikmin 4 that are found all throughout the game world. Upon locating a hostile Leafling (alien creatures with bush-looking heads) who has taken hostage of a Castaway, a Dandori Battle will commence. In these challenges, you are pit against the Leafling to see who can collect the most number of objects in the Dandori Battle area  and transport them back to your base within the time limit.

Each Dandori Battle is indicated by its Dandori Level which determines how difficult your opponent will be and the challenge posed by the Dandori Battle zone in the form of obstacles and minor enemies that hinder you and your rival throughout the game mode.

The type of Pikmin available to you in each Dandori Battle is fixed. This means that you must make the most out of the Pikmin types you are given to outpoint your opponent during the battle.

Dandori Battle Rewards

In addition to being able to save a hostaged Castaway, clearing Dandori Battles rewards you with Pup Drive points which you can spend to unlock and upgrade Oatchi’s skills in the game. Since you will want to learn and enhance as many of Oatchi’s abilities to help you progress more smoothly in each of the main missions, try to spend time clearing Dandori Battles as often as you can.

Dandori Battle Mode

For solely enjoying Dandori Battles in Pikmin 4, you can select Dandori Battle Mode from the game’s title screen. This separate game mode lets you challenge either the CPU or another player similar to the battles encountered during the main story.

When competing against the AI, you can enable two-player co-op where two people can work together to win against the opponent, especially high-level ones, in the game.
