Collecting Flarlic increases Pikmin limit.

You can increase the maximum Pikmin you can take with you in Pikmin 4 by obtaining items called Flarlic. These items, like Treasures, are collected after they have fallen as you go out on explorations.

One Flarlic will increase your Pikmin limit by 10, essentially raising the maximum number of the plant-like creatures that can be drawn from the Onion.

Obtaining More Pikmin

Collect the remains of dead enemies.

Pikmin sprouts will be planted from the Onyon when you collect the remains of various enemies in the game.

If you pull out the seeded Pikmin buds, the Pikmin will join your party.

To increase the number of Pikmin you can carry with you, you will not only need to kill enemies and collect their remains, but you will also need to pull out the Pikmin sprouts that have grown on the ground.

Collect Pikmin pellets.

Pikmin sprouts are sown by carrying a round object called a “pellet” to an Onion.

Pikmin of the same color as the pellet will spawn from the Onion. Red pellets, for instance, will only spawn Red Pikmin.

Recruit wild Pikmin in underground caves.

You can also recruit wild Pikmin by calling to them in underground caves (B button).

Even if you have cleared an underground cave once or completed the investigation, you can revisit the area to look for wild Pikmin. This allows you to try recruiting them as many times as you like in the game.
