Unlock Survival skills to improve your overall combat performance.
The Survival skills listed above are the ones that you will always benefit from in battle unless you have a very specific playstyle. Because of this, prioritize unlocking them as soon as possible.
Unlock Survival skills that improve the usefulness of dodging if you have SP to spare.
Since parrying attacks is much more rewarding in combat than evading them, try to hold off getting dodge-related skills until later if you have any SP to spare.

Ambush is one of the best Attack skills while exploring areas.
Ambush allows you to instantly take down enemies from behind with a single blow as long as you are not yet engaged in comabt. This makes it useful for dealing with shielded enemies and those that are tedious to kill because of their high HP. Ambush is also useful for exploring areas and collecting items so prioritize unlocking it as you go through the game.
Aerial Blow is useful against shielded enemies.
Aerial Blow allows you to attack enemies from the air while ignoring the enemy’s guard. Unlike Ambush, Aerial Blow will not kill the target in one strike but can be used even outside of combat. This makes it a good option when Ambush fails.

Try to limit yourself to 1 to 2 Beta skills early on.
Since Beta skills require Beta Energy to use, you will not get to use such skills too often in each battle. Because of this, try to limit the Beta skills you unlock to 1 or 2. Afterwards, focus on enhancing those that you have unlocked instead of spending SP to learn new Beta skills.
Unlock and upgrade Beta skills that you frequently use.
Try to stick to getting upgrades for Beta skills you have started to unlock early on. Getting upgrades for Beta skills will improve their power and overall effectiveness in battle. As a general rule, focus on Beta skills that you frequently use in battle.
Unlock Beta skills that can knock down enemies later.
Shield Breaker and Shockwave are also good Beta skills to get later as they can knock down enemies. This makes them useful for canceling the attack patterns and move follow-ups of certain enemies that make give you trouble in the game.
How to Unlock Skills
Spend SP at Camps to learn skills.
Skills can be learned by spending SP at the Skill Settings menu at Camps. Note that this feature is accessible at both regular Camps and Supply Camps.
How to Reset Skills
Use the SP Initializer.
You can reset skills using an SP Initializer at the Skill Settings menu. This allows you to respec and reallocate SP you used to unlock skills from any tree. You can buy an SP Initializer for 200G at the shop to reset your skills as many times as you like.
