Jakob, although an aristocrat, has no contact with his parents. He first makes his appearance in Fire Emblem: Fates and returns to serve as one of the heroes to the Great Tactician in Fire Emblem: Heroes.
Stats
At Level 1, Jakob is quite powerful for being one of the few that can attack diagonally. He also has a high chance rate of his attack dealing double damage. His base damage initially was around 13 damage and can end up doubling on contact. While he can be quite squishy for his low defense, he’s practically what people call a Glass Cannon for his insane damage.

Strategy
Jakob is a colorless/dagger unit that can soften enemies. He’s normally the kind of unit that opens the battle first in order for other allies to take advantage of the lowered DEF/RES. Among all the dagger users (Saizo, Matthew, and Jafar), he has the highest survivability while retaining high ATK and debuff skills like Kagero. Unlike most heroes, even his 3☆ weapon has an effect. It’s a debuff similar to that of Poison Dagger, making him increasingly deadly even against Armored Units.
Because of his balanced stats, Jakob can go two ways. Some players opt to build him as a turret using defensive buffs such as Ward Blow or Armored Blow. However, others choose to exploit his ATK and speed by using Swift Sparrow. After that, players can also utilize Seal Def to further debuff the enemy. Poison Strike may also work on Jakob especially when paired with Savage Blow for him to deal more damage against enemies.
Counter
- Cecilia – Cecilia, using Gronnraven+, can deal heavy damage against Jakob. Her weapon has additional damage to Jakob.
- Hector – Due to his heavily mounted defense and ability to counter at any distance, he renders Jakob’s damage completely useless. However, players can also sacrifice Jakob as a means to bring down Hector.
- Ryoma – Ryoma’s Raijinto has a built in Distant Counter, killing Jakob almost instantly.
- Ike – Ike’s Ragnell is similar to Ryoma’s Raijinto, allowing him to counter at any distance.
