Klein fits in a team that needs support against fliers and opposing glasscannon units to which his Speed can rival against. Best paired with buffs to bolster his Speed further enabling him to achieve his maximum potential as an offensive hero. To get him out of harm’s way entails having Dancers/ Singers for backup in case he fails to take out an enemy during the player’s phase. For tactician’s that lack Skill inheritance, he comes well-equipped with the necessary tools and the rest of what he lacks can be filled in later.

Strategy
Stats-wise, Klein excels offensively as a primary damage-dealer. Able to capitalize on his commendable ATK and SPD especially if he runs a SPD boon. Because of his Speed stat, he occupies the upper echelon in terms of Speed tiers among archers let alone neutral units.
Klein’s default kit is excellent, enabling him to deal enough offensive pressure regardless of absence of Skill inheritance. He acquires a mighty weapon, the Brave Bow+ which despite the Speed drop can be alleviated when running SPD boon and pairing with SPD buffing heroes. He also gains Death Blow 3, which earns him a niche as a sweeper during the player phase, and in conjunction with Quick Riposte 3, he can deal even more hits when at a safe level of HP. Glacies is decent at best as a Special however he can deal even more damage if this seems lacking.
The drawbacks to running Klein is that his Speed is not too great because of the compensation dealt by his weapon. Without a SPD boon, or player phase buffs, he runs the risk of being outsped. In addition, he suffers from a low Base Stat Total in comparison to other units. Apart from that he is a squishy Archer, making him open to most attacks during the enemy phase if he lands on a risky placement. He can often fall victim to Tome users who have higher SPD and ATK to prey on his RES.
He functions better when paired with buff support heroes such as Eirika, raising his ATK further to achieve the necessary knock outs. In addition, Olivia helps him to utilize a hit-and-run tactic. To block melee attacks from piercing his weak defenses, Hector can also occupy a slot while Klein stays at the back.
Counter
- In spite of his strengths, Klein struggles to defeat Tome users that deal high damage and high DEF-invested armored units who often carry Ranged attacks. Blade and Raven tome users are particularly concerning.
- Nino – Nino often carries Gronnblade which allow her to strike Klein’s weak RES effectively due to its added effects.
- Effie – Clad in armor, Effie can survive multiple hits from Klein and with Distant Counter can stab his mediocre DEF. She faces competition because her Wary Fighter 3 does not negate Klein’s Quick Riposte 3. However, once she survives a hit, her phase can deal a savage hit with Death Blow 3.
- Reinhardt – Sharing a “Brave” weapon with Klein, his Dire Thunder can deal serious damage to Klein’s pathetic RES.
