Valter is one of the six strongest generals of Grado’s Imperial Army. Ranking as #3 of the army, Valter boasts a high level of bloodlust and combat skill. Initially fired for slaughtering innocents, Valter then became reinstated when King Grado became corrupted. Sadistic and bloodthirsty, Valter treats the battle as a game and a hunt. In Fire Emblem Heroes, he enters as a Wyvern Rider and as a Blue/Lance unit.

Stats

Valter has high mobility and high attack. However, his Res leaves him so much to be desired. This makes him an easy target for Green Tomes like Merric who’s unique weapon deals greater damage to flying units. However, he can quickly eliminate enemies with his regular weapon alone such as the Silver Lance. However, he reaches his true potential upon reaching Cursed Lance. He also has the strongest defense behind Gwendolyn, Lukas, Oboro, and Subaki without sacrificing his speed.

Strategy

Valter, as a Wyvern Rider, can cover a wide distance especially over all sorts of terrain. As a Lancer, he has heightened affinity against Red/Sword units. His lance, the Cursed Lance, deals extra damage due to it having an imbued Fury trait and having a high Mt of 16. He can quickly cross over mountains which has him easily ripping through tome units or infantries trapped among the terrains. The best part of his Cursed Lance is that it lowers his cooldown rate, allowing him to utilize New Moon or Luna more frequently against enemies.

Valter can work as a Ham-type tank by dealing heavy damage against his enemies, using Darting Blow and Desperation. To utilize his already high attack, the B-Trait Life and Death can also work well to have him deal heavier damage especially against armored units. For a tankier build, players can also give Valter Renewal as a means to recover from using his Cursed Lance.

Counter

• Takumi – Takumi, as an archer, can attack at any distance due to his Close Counter skill.
• Virion – Virion can deal heavy damage especially when he completely charges his Astra special attack.
• Setsuna – Setsuna has high nuke capacity and if built with Brave Bow and Desperation, she can quickly kill Valter.
• Jeorge – Jeorge is another archer that can seal away Valter’s high ATK using Seal ATK.
• Klein – Klein has Brave Bow that deals heavy damage especially since it allows him to double attack.
• Merric – Merric is a hard counter to Valter not only as a tome but also his weapon’s effect. His unique weapon, Excalibur, deals extra damage to flying units.
