What is Area Zero?

Pokemon Scarlet and Violet - Area Zero

Area Zero is the final area visited during the main story of Pokemon Scarlet and Violet (Pokemon SV). It is found within The Great Crater of Paldea and is initially restricted during most of game’s story events. The area, however, becomes freely explorable during the post-game stages which require you to clear the main story.

The Ending is Not Triggered After Victory Road

Pokemon Scarlet and Violet’s main story does not end when you have attained League Champion status in the Paldea Region. After defeating the Elite Four, you will need to clear three more story sub-sections which are the Legend, Starfall Street, and Homeway routes. The last sub-section requires you to clear Area Zero itself, though with limited exploration of the area.

How to Unlock Area Zero

Progress through the late-game stages.

Area Zero becomes accessible only after completing the Victory Road, Legend, and Stardust Street story routes during the late-game stages. Afterwards, head southeast of Medali Town (Larry, the Normal Gym Leader‘s town) to reach the Area Zero gate.

Use the Transporter to enter Area Zero.

Go inside the building in front of the Area Zero gate to find the Transporter. This device allows you to travel to the various Research Stations ranging from 1 to 4. The higher the number of the station, the closest it is to Area Zero’s deepest area. Note that you will not be able to use the Transporter to move around the different Research Stations until you have cleared the Homeway story route.

Post-Game Exploration

After clearing the main story, Area Zero becomes open for free exploration. New Paradox Pokemon exclusive to your version of the game, as well as another flagship Legendary all start to appear after you reenter the location. You will also be able to move around Area Zero while riding your Legendary Pokemon after beating the game.
