Lord Rhapthorne
The ultimate big baddie in the game of Dragon Quest VIII. He shows up finally after losing some of his vessels. Lord Rhapthorne is the spirit that lurked inside the Godbird Scepter. Since he was nothing more than a spirit prior, this allowed him to take possession of other people. His first person was Dhoulmagus, then Jessica, and then several others.
In his boss battle, he, like Dhoulmagus, has two phases to fight.

Strategy
For Rhapthorne, you’ll have to be at least 41-42. Because he can deal heavy damage, make sure you throw a Yggdarasil Leaf or two into the inventory. Since there won’t be any inn nearby for you to recharge, the Empyrea will be able to heal up for you. Also, don’t forget to save before you begin the battle.
In this case, you first have to destroy the Orb of Invincibility. To do so, the party has to “pray” to the scepter. To do this, you have to pray every turn. While praying, Rhapthorne will attack before you can summon a sage. To compensate, have Yangus psych himself up so that Rhapthorne would use Wave of Ice instead to remove the buffs. In doing so, you can focus on the praying. Have Angelo restore your HP using Multi-heal while Jessica uses the Sage’s Stone. Don’t worry about the MP and HP consumption, the sages will restore you after.

Strategy
While battling, never use any other psych up stat save for Jessica’s Oomph on both the Hero and Yangus. The Hero can either go with Miracle Slash or Falcon Slash to deal heavy damage. With the Hero focusing on the damage, Yangus can focus using Helm Splitter to bring down the defense. Your most essential character here is Jessica. Because of her variety of spells such as Sap, Big Banga, and many other spells. There’s also a variation of the battle in which Jessica is the one attacking and Yangus is using the Sage’s Stone. This however only works when she has the Gringham whip. Before unleashing heavy damage, he uses Meditate to keep his HP up. As long as you have your characters dealing 1.5k damage per turn, it shouldn’t be a problem.

WTF!!!! 1.5k per turn!!!!!!
Thank you for another fantastic post. Where else could anyone get that kind of information in such an ideal way of writing? I have a presentation next week, and I am on the look for such info.
