Dragon’s Dogma 2 Which Starting Vocation Should You Choose?
Recommended Magick Archer Vocation Progression
Order | Vocation | Recommended Rank | Details |
---|---|---|---|
1 | Thief | 2 | Unlocks Subtlety (Augment Skill). |
2 | Archer | 4 | Unlocks Endurance (Augment Skill). |
3 | Mage | 9 (MAX) | Unlocks Exaltation (Augment Skill). |
4 | Sorcerer | 8 | Unlocks Catalysis (Augment Skill). |
5 | 9 (MAX) | Unlocks Sagacity (Augment Skill). | |
6 | Magick Archer | 8 | Unlocks Ascendancy (Augment Skill). |
Subtlety is one of the most important skills for backline vocations such as the Magick Archer so consider getting it first by changing to the Thief class in the early stages. Then, upgrade your stamina pool and recovery speed by going for Endurance from the Archer and Mage vocations respectively.
From here, you want to boost elemental damage you deal using magic skills so spending some time to unlock Catalysis and Sagacity from the Sorcerer vocation should be your priority towards the latter stages.
Finally, you will be relying on Pawns adopting frontline classes like the Fighter and Warrior to distract enemies as you aim from a distance. Because of this, consider getting Ascendancy to boost your team’s damage output.

Blazefang Arrow, meanwhile, is your go-to sniping skill for hitting targets or certain enemy parts more accurately.
To be able to contribute to support, consider getting Recovery Arrow as a means of of healing or reviving allies, especially if your designated healer is the one rendered incapacitated.

Scopic Sight and Tracker’s Sight are both essential skills for improving DPS using Pinpoint Volley or Rivet Shot. Scopic Sight, in particular, allows you to outrange most enemies and gives you a good window to get in a few shots before they are able to get close enough to attack you.
Tracker’s Sight, meanwhile, drastically improves your party’s speed of clearing mobs as you are able to damage more targets in battle. Finally, you can also get Climactic Arrow to gain increased damage by timing your release during the moment you are at full-draw using magickal bows.

Build-wise, the Magick Archer is essentially a Sorcerer with a bow that grants them more precision and mobility. Naturally, you will want to get all Augment skills that boost your maximum stamina, stamina recovery speed, and elemental and magic damage output like the Sorcerer.
It also goes without saying that the Magick Archer excels from the backlines so you will want to reduce any chances of getting aggro which is the area of vanguard classes like Fighters, Warriors, and certain Warfarer builds.
