New Allies
For the 3DS version of Dragon Quest VIII, there are two new playable characters that will join your party under certain conditions.
Red
She is a thief that will join your party in Pirate’s Cove. Red will join you to defeat the boss in the dungeon.
Her initial level when she joins your party will be at Level 33. She also has 129 skill points that you can use to invest in her attributes.
Morrie
Morrie is the owner of the arena in DQVIII. He will join your party once you’ve cleared Rank S in his arena
His initial level when he joins your party will be at Level 35. He also has 115 skill points that you can use to invest in his attributes.
How to change party members
In DQVIII, only four people are allowed to participate in a battle. While the four chosen characters are battling, the other members will wait in the carriage.
You can change party members in battle by selecting “Tactics” then choosing “Switch”. However, you cannot switch characters while battling in a dungeon.
In addition, you can use the waiting members’ held items and belongings while in the field.
