Chocobo Eater Boss Strategy
Have Auron and Lulu out
It is recommended to defeat the boss by pushing it off the cliff since it will give you the most rewards, including a Level 1 Key Sphere. To do this, have Auron and Lulu in the party. Auron should focus on physical damage while Lulu dishes out fire spells.
Pushing the boss of the cliff
Before the battle begins, have Tidus cast Haste on Lulu and the rest of the party to gain a speed advantage. You can also use Cheer to raise your attack and defense for the fight.
To push the boss off the cliff, you must first flip it over. You can do this by quickly dishing out at least 1,200 damage. Note that the counter will reset if you do not burst it down fast enough.
Have Lulu use Focus and attack the boss with Fire or Fira. Auron and Kimahri should focus on physical attacks, though the latter’s Firebreath Overdrive is very useful as well. You can also easily have all of your party members with full Overdrive meters to deal massive damage to the boss at the beginning of the battle.
Once on its back, it will be extremely vulnerable to physical attacks, allowing Auron, Kimahri, Tidus, or Wakka to pummel it even more. Wakka’s Dark Attack is also useful for avoiding its strong physical attacks.
At least 500 points of damage must be dealt to the boss while it’s on its back to push it back once. It will only have Blizzard to retaliate when it is on its back. The boss will correct itself each time you push it back, so keep unloading on it to flip it over again.
