Crafting and Reinforcing Mechanics
When crafting weapons in Fire Emblem Echoes: Shadows of Valentia, you can head over to the Blacksmith to create weapons. You can reinforce weapons depending on the material you have. Because of this, each weapon has its own prefix that grants a variety of stats especially in combat.
However, the problem with crafting and reinforcing weapons is that it needs a lot of money. You’ll have to farm money as you go along. But before you craft, assume that there may be a probability mechanic: the higher the reinforcement, the lower the chances of it being reinforced. However, there’s also a chance that the reinforcement may not work and you’ll end up spending more money to reinforce it again.

Crafting and Reinforcing: Weapon Tree
When you start crafting a weapon, there will be several paths to go through. Those are called Weapon Trees. Each weapon has a certain growth rate and can turn into any weapon, depending on your playing style. Apparently, there’s also a Discovery Chance System. Meaning, you may not get the expected weapon. Upon reinforcing the weapon, it may reach the criteria of evolving into a new weapon. A good example would be this kind of tree:
Iron sword –> Silver sword –> Sword of the Brave –> Sword of Darkness
Crafting and Reinforcing: Emblems and Prefixes
As you begin creating your weapon, you’ll notice that some weapons may have some prefixes. These prefixes imbue power into your weapon and give you an idea what stats it prioritizes. Before you start crafting, make sure that you know what job class you’ll specialize in. That way, you’ll waste less materials and money in crafting a good weapon. It would be a waste of money if you crafted a good weapon then you later find out that you can’t use it.
