Strategy

Stats-wise, Mae sports high ATK, RES and a passable SPD which allows her to sponge a hit from opposing Green Tomes during certain situations.

When dealing damage near allies during the player phase, Mae can land some serious damage, a trait she shares with Katarina. To further damage dealt, when Mae has sustained at least 25% damage, she triggers Desperation which provides a turn to dish out follow-ups, making her an excellent unit during the Player Phase.

The drawback to her however is that she suffers pathetic DEF, making her prone to melee Attacks especially against Green Axe users. The enemy phase alone is also concerning because if she is not strategically placed, she not only loses her Weapon advantage, but also her tendency to KO enemy units.

Factoring Skill inheritance, Mae’s B Tome Exp. 3 becomes obsolete. This can be remedied by swapping it with adjacent buffs which is a win-win situation because it not only boosts the allies’ Stats, but also strengthens her Blárowl+. Speaking of weapons, she appreciates learning Blárblade+, allowing her to function independently even without being placed near allies.

Mae appreciates support from units that can draw ATK damage away, this includes high DEF Red melee units such as Eldigan and Xander. If her role is to deal damage using Blárblade+, she is compatible alongside Eirika who not only covers her color weakness, but also give her the buffs she needs when going on the offensive. Employing a hit-and-run tactic would also make Singers/Dancers essential to help her deal damage before she gets them while placing her in a safe tile away from Swords, Daggers, and Bows.

Counter

  • Julia – As a green tome with high RES, she rivals Mae in distant combat and can retaliate with effective damage.
  • Hector – If he is a RES boon type, Hector could survive damage from Mae if she is not within Desperation. He can then proceed to finish her off with an effective ATK-based damage.
  • Kagero – One of the threats to most tome users due to her respectable RES. Her Weapon allows her to prey on Mae’s pathetic DEF when she is within her range.
