Tharja Character Analysis [Fire Emblem: Heroes/ FE: Heroes]

Tharja

Tharja hails from Plegia although she doesn’t care about the war. When she joins Chrom’s army, she falls in love with the main character from Fire Emblem: Awakening regardless of gender. Her abilities to support Nowi reveals that she has the power to read fortunes using a Manakete’s scales, and can divine the location of anyone or anything using one. From Awakening, she now returns as one of the strongest Heroes in Fire Emblem: Heroes as a Red Tome.

Stats

Tharja is a red/tome wielding hero with a balanced set of stats. Because of her balanced stats, she can be quite versatile in combat. This includes her ability to shoot from far range. Like most mages, she has lower speed but higher attack. Her initial defense allows her also to take hits which gives her a chance to retaliate if necessary.

Strategy

Tharja is a Red/Tome that classifies more as a Magic Nuke. However, due to being a 1st generation Red Tome, some other Red Tomes such as Celica and Katarina dwarf her power. Sanaki also may overpower her but she’s not small fry either. Players often times use Tharja more as a Glass Cannon due to her low RES. The amusing feature behind Tharja is her decent DEF, allowing her to trade blows with Hector plus that he’s a green axe. Unlike most Red/Tomes, she boasts a decent defense and high speed allowing her to outstrip many characters.

She can easily nuke characters like Frederick and Hawkeye due to their low Res. She can easily outclass Cecilia, a Green/Tome due to her heavy firepower. Similar to Delthea and Linde, she has one of the highest nuking powers next to Celica and Katarina. Players often grant her Vantage to give her better chance against faster tome users. This may also help her deal damage against Blue/Tomes with low Res. Another is Swordbreaker to give her a better rounding on other Red/Swords.

Counter

• Berkut – Berkut literally is a walking Res tank. Due to his defensive abilities focusing mostly on Res, he can easily soften Tharja’s attack. At the same time, Berkut’s Lance grants him additional Res+4 to withstand incoming magic blows.
• Kagero – Kagero‘s weapon deals extra damage against infantry units. However, this depends if Tharja gets the upper hand over Kagero.
• Robin (M) – Robin (M) is a Blue/Tome that can tank heavy magic damage. If trained right, his Res will soften Tharja’s blows heavily before being able to counter attack.
• Subaki – As a pegasus knight, he boasts high RES and an all-rounder. His balanced stats and high mobility allow him to chase Tharja across terrains and kill her in one blow.
