Strategy

How to Defeat Seymour Flux

When the fight begins, you can use trigger commands with Kimahri and Yuna to talk to Seymour. Doing so increases Kimahri’s strength and Yuna’s magic defense.

Seymour Flux’s Lance of Atrophy inflicts zombie on a single target before he follows it up with Full-Life for an instant kill. Be sure to stock up on Holy Water to cure any undead characters in your party when he does this. Blessed armor with Zombie Ward or any customized equipment with Auto-Med is very useful for avoiding Lance of Atrophy’s effect. Not having anything to avoid being turned undead means that you will need to actively revive fallen party members with Yuna or Phoenix Downs.

You can prevent Seymour Flux from casting most of his spells by attacking him with Wakka’s Silence Buster. When silenced, Seymour Flux will not be able to use Flare, Reflect, Dispel, or Protect. Just make sure to reapply it whenever it wears off.

To burst Seymour Flux down, it is recommended to have all of your aeons in full Overdrive so that they unload on the boss before he banishes them.

Seymour Flux is also susceptible to being poisoned. Use Bio or Rikku’s Poison Fang. You can also mix Soul Spring and Fire Gem to both damage and poison the boss.

When Seymour casts Protect or Reflect, dispel it right away. Without the latter, he won’t be able to bounce Flare to any of your characters on the next turn.

You can reduce damage from Cross Cleave and Lance of Atrophy with Protect or by casting Cheer multiple times.

To survive Total Annihilation, try casting Shell or use Kimahri’s Mighty Guard Overdrive. You can also use Focus multiple times to stack up even more defense before defending the turn before Seymour unleashes the attack. Be ready to use Mega Phoenix if two of your party members have been knocked out.

One way to defeat the boss very quickly is to complete the Remiem Temple Chocobo Race. Getting three chests rewards you with 30 Wings to Discovery which lets you get Trio of 9999 through mixing. Combining them with Fire Gems and using them on the boss will end the fight very quickly.
