Leveling Guide for Final Fantasy XVI (FF16)
Defeat enemies in battle to earn experience (EXP).
You can earn experience (EXP) to level up Clive in Final Fantasy XVI (FF16) by defeating enemies (including regular foes and bosses) encountered throughout the game’s main story. During the early stages of the game, avoid escaping from regular battles to gain levels as fast as possible.
Farming enemies is also a good way to get Gil (money) and Ability Points. This is to ensure that Clive is well-equipped in terms of weapons and usable moves in addition to having high stats, especially during the later stages of the game.
Equip the Scholar’s Spectacles (Accessory).
It is recommended to equip the pre-order bonus Scholar’s Spectacles (accessory) when farming enemies to increase the amount of EXP you get by 10%.
Scholar’s Spectacle (Accessory)
Name | Effect |
---|---|
Scholar’s Spectacle | Increases amount of EXP earned by 10%. |
Description | Some scholars wear spectacles as a crutch for clouded eyes, overstrained by a lifetime of poring over close-writ tomes by lamplight. Others strain not to see, but wear them anyway — that they might witness the truth of the world in even sharper detail, and lear from it. |
Final Fantasy XVI (FF16) How to Claim Pre-Order Bonuses
Equip On Fortune and Heavens (Accessory).
You can also wear On Fortune and Heavens (accessory) to gain an additional 15% increase in EXP gained in battle. You can purchase the accessory at Charon’s Toll (shop) at The Hideaway during the Main Story Quest Cid the Outlaw.
On Fortune and Heavens (Accessory)
Name | Effect |
---|---|
On Fortune and Heavens | Increases amount of EXP earned by 15%. |
Description | “A treatise in which the renowned astrologer Osmo claims to have successfully mapped the eastern autumn skies and proceeds to explain how the stars’ location is relevant in the fortification of the spirit.” |
Equip Ring of Timely Strikes and Ring of Timely Evasion (Timely Accessories)
Equipping the Ring of Timely Strikes (auto attack) and Ring of Timely Evasion (auto dodge) can also help you farm regular enemies as these items essentially do half the work of fighting enemies for you.
Ring of Timely Strikes (Timely Accessory)
Name | Effect |
---|---|
Ring of Timely Strikes | When equipped, complex ability combinations can be executed by simply pressing ◻. |
Description | “If there were a ring that transformed a novice swordsman’s awkward jerks and jabs into a veritable dance of precisely executed flourishes, one might wonder why every knight in the realm didn’t have one of their own.” |
Ring of Timely Evasion (Timely Accessory)
Name | Effect |
---|---|
Ring of Timely Evasion | When equipped, Clive will automatically evade attacks, as long as the attack can be evaded. |
Description | “Fleetness of foot requires lightning-quick reflexes, eagle-like vision, and razor-sharp focus, not to mention the calves of a puma. That, or this convenient ring.” |
Set the Gameplay Focus (Difficult) to Story Focus
You can also change the Gameplay Focus (difficulty) to Story Focus which lowers enemy HP and attack power when you want to grind EXP more easily. This lets you gain levels faster and with less effort than on Action Focus mode.
Do Side Quests.
You can also farm EXP to level up by doing as many side quests as you can during the game’s main story. Try talking to non-player characters (NPCs) with a green exclamation point above their head. This indicates that a side quest can be initiated. Once you have started a side quest, you can open Alliant Reports from the game’s menu to quickly fast travel to a side quest’s location.
There are quite a few side missions can that only become accessible by progressing further into the main story or by completing pre-requisite quests within what are called chain quests (or questlines). Try to do as many side quests as you can before leaving a specific town or village in the game.
Do Hunts and slay Notorious Marks.
Hunts, which can be initiated from the Hunt Board at Cid’s Hideaway, are also good ways to get EXP fast. Completing these optional missions also lets you earn useful items, money, and Ability Points (AP) so it is worth taking the time off the main story to do them.
The higher the rank of a Notorious Mark, the better the rewards. More difficult Hunts that require you to take down powerful monsters will naturally yield more EXP for leveling up fast in the game.
