How to Do Precision Dodge Guide for Final Fantasy XVI (FF16)
Perform a dodge by timing it with the enemy’s attack.
Executing a Precision Dodge (just evasion) in Final Fantasy XVI (FF16) slows down the movement of the attacking enemy for a short period of time. To do a Precision Dodge, press the dodge button (R1 by default) at the right moment during the enemy’s attack.
If done correctly, “Precision Dodge” will be displayed on the right side of the screen.
Precision Counter after a Precision Dodge.
By pressing the □ button (square) after activating Precision Dodge, Clive can perform a Precision Strike which is a counterattack using the equipped sword.
Pressing the △ button (triangle), meanwhile, lets Clive execute a magical counterattack called a Precision Shot.
Tips for Precision Dodge
Watch your opponent’s movements.
When dealing with an enemy you have never encountered before, avoid attacking too much and focus on watching your foe’s attack patterns.
The timing for Precision Dodges is not too difficult, so you should be able to do it by observing your opponent carefully.
Do not mash attack (□ button) blindly in battle.
You cannot cancel into a dodge in the middle of Clive’s attack. Unless you are trying to stack damage when an enemy is in Takedown state, avoid attacking recklessly by hitting blindly mashing the □ button.
When fighting strong enemies, you should only attack only when you see a safe chance to while being ready to dodge at all times.
Raise Precision Dodge to Master level.
Leveling up Precision Dodge to Master will slightly extend the active window for Precision Dodge .
If you are not good at timing Precision Dodge and have enough Ability Points, try upgrading the ability to Master.
What To Do If You Cannot Time Precision Dodges
Equip support accessories.
Equipping the support accessory “Auto Throw ” slows down time when the enemy attacks, making it easier to activate Precision Dodge.
Having Clive use “Auto Dodge” accessory will also allow him to automatically dodge (note that the Auto Throw accessory effect will not activate when Auto Dodge is equipped).
