How to Do Punish

Press Square on a Downed Enemy

Punish can only be done on a downed enemy, throwing the target further and dealing huge damage at the same time. To do this, move closer to the downed enemy, then press the □ button.

However, this move cannot be applied to large enemies and bosses.

Note that you can’t perform Punish while in the midst of a combo. Perform Punish multiple times to unlock the “Punisher” trophy achievement.

How to Knock Down Enemies

Abilities and Combos can knock down enemies

Using Clive’s abilities and combination of melee attacks can knock down an enemy, but it may take a series of attacks to do this.

A normal melee combo or shifting into a magic burst combo works as well, though there are much faster ways to knock down your enemies.

Use Torgal’s Ravage move

This move will throw enemies into the air and knock them down as they fall, allowing you to Punish an enemy in a downed state.

To command Torgal to use Ravage, press the Down D-pad; he will then attack the enemies and throw them into the air.

Use Downthrust Attack

Probably the easiest way to knock down an enemy, successfully landing a Downthrust attack will cause an enemy to be in a downed state.

You don’t need to chain this move with other battle techniques, a mere Downthrust attack will suffice.
